WoW Emulators are NOT Illegal

This is from emupedia with some words changed,ect.

Many people are saying that WoW Emulators is illegal. This statement is WRONG.

WoW Emulators, on it's own is not illegal, the developers provide the software, and it is up to the end user about how they go about deploying it.

When WoW Emu's are used alongside with Blizzard files, namely from the World of Warcraft client, it becomes ILLEGAL, on YOUR behalf - not the emulator developers.

Such files are, DBCs, maps and a database.

The emulator's team supply a blank database, which is not illegal because it contains no Blizzard copyrighted information.

So to all you public server owners, before you dare go bashing WoW emulators for being illegal anyway, I implore that you all read this post before making such a stupid claim.

Emulators are created by sniffing and encrypting blizz's protocoll, which is illegal.
Even deving an emulator is illegal.

The OP is false... heres a list of whats illegal about WoW emulation, and yes the list could go on.
-You are reversing their protocol to emulate a server.
-Your providing a service, not owned by Blizzard that they own.
-You are using Blizzard's intellectual property inside the core(Spell failure enums, auth enums, etc).


Databases
-All that information is copyrighted and belongs to Blizzard.

Running a server.
-Your not allowed to run a server that isn't owned or ran by Blizzard.
-You have to use THEIR DBC, map, and other MPQ data.
