    And when i said that i meant that the ASCENT SVN has emulators from 1.0.2+. With tweaking a stable core would be a piece of cake, also

    What draco is talking about is an awesome idea in my opinion but I think the programming skills for such a feat like that would be near insane. Making some items/ talent changes wouldn't be that hard but replicating the whole Outland continent... I have no clue how you could do such a thing. On a side note, this thread is pure win. I want an actual legit pre-bc server. Not some 2.4.3 where they've disabled some talents and blocked the portal. I got my 1.12 client set for when a decent server rolls around

    If you look forward to make 2.4.3 server this is the best code and emu to start I have tested antrix/ascent/arc , mangos, wowd, ludmilla (bianries only, devs refuse to share source) and TC is by far the best. You can grab it here:

    Hello, first of all, nice thread.
    I would love a "legacy" wow server (1.12.x max), not custom thought...just Blizz-like.
    Playing wow back then was AMAZInG...not like now...imo, now it sucks bad (so bad, i'm returned to an UO freeshard, freezing my retail account).

    Although i think Honor ruined wow...so maybe something like 1.8.x would work fine

    Now, I'd suggest to get a 1.12.x mangos version and work on it. I think it's just better than ascent. Maybe not so stable (i had a mangos-freeserver with more than 7 days uptime with low population), but surely "better".

    Now, i would like to add something to the thread.
    I've read someone posted SDB, but I think there's a better one:

    back then i was using this one, helping with patches as well.
    Too bad, forum seems gone (the project is death as well).

    ohh, i've seen you're worried about maps...
    ...well, with mangos it's not a problem...you can "extract" them directly from a running client.
    Every SVN revision gives you also applications to do so.

    On a side note, with mangos you can extract vmaps too, for LoS issues
    The server need to be powerfull enought for them anyway...something like a P4 with a couple of GB could handle around 80/100 players, although stability could suffer alot with such a population. Needs to be tested.

    I think vmaps were introduced in 2.0.x in mangos :P But I may be wrong ;]

    Found a 1.12.1 Mangos repack on some german website, the post says its:

    -Mangos Rev 2452
    -Silver DB 0.5.1 fully patched
    -Anti-Cheat 1.4.2
    -1.12.1 DBC files
    -1.12.1 Map files

    yes, you could be pretty right there, still, with a bit of patchwork guess it can be done easily

    is there ANY private server that are running 1.12.1 ?? i would love to try it out cuz i havent played pre-tbc :'( the private server i was playing when pre tbc where out was doing this: They were running normal wow and when pre tbc was ended they directly updated to tbc... so i got NO taste of pre tbc

    My friend talked to ludmilla developers, as we were looking for collide system for our emu. We hoped ludmilla had collide for 1.12.1 and they could share their old source code. Kobold also did not had vmap support in this version of emu, also they refused to share their code (but what we needed was collide system only). Atm we are writing our own collide system for 1.12.1. Its not that easy as "port it from 2.x.x emu" beacouse the whole file system had changed from 1.12.1 to 2.x.x in wow client. We need new extractor also. Hope we will finish this part of work soon. We do not plan to make it open source, but we may release compiled repack easy to use for everyone.
    I have uploaded 1.12.1 client for my friends so ill post it here also in case someone will need it. Its on rapidshare.

    Mitron I will open a 1.12.1 server when we will complete our emu and I will advert it on mmowned. We got hardware ready to handle it (two dells 6850 with 4x 3,12 ghz CPU's and 32 GB RAM each :P ). You can expect it in two months, we have many things done yet (WSG,AB,AV, all instances have almost blizzlike scripts) and still much to do (we want every spell and talent work on release, same as full collide system).

    aye, same for mangos devs
    would not be so "easy" to have vmaps/LoS on a 1.12.x mangos.

    I'll poke some more some mangos devs.

    Another problem is that back then, also spells/talents weren't working.

    Just a shame to lose such a "good" era. 1.12.x was the best one, imo.
