Today I got softbanned with the catch flee. I could farm from pokestops and do gyms. Got banned exactly 6 hours. I didn't get any server data error message. I'm glad I am unbanned now and it's working again. And with level 32 I am not sure if its worth to bot again as I believe the pokemons wont get stronger after level 30? I saved up all my stardust from the beginning. Maybe I'll just snipe good IV gym pokemons from now on.

Okay. For the past 18 hours, I've been following this thread for developments. I saw one post saying that the player created a new account using his "banned" account's username and said that the game accepted it.

I was skeptical at first since I'm getting the data error on my main. Note that it's a Google account and yes, I botted. 2 weeks ago, I created a PTC account but hasn't gone through the tutorial. I decided to try it out, and when it was asked for a username, I tried to use my main's username. Unfortunately, it was accepted. I haven't tried out checking the gyms I own.

I dunno, but it seems like my main's data must've been "deleted" by Niantic or something. Else, it would be crazy for both accounts to have the same username, right?

I'm aware the game data error may be permanent but when I check this thread for a possible update I'd rather not see multiple messages like "ACCOUNT UNBANNED!!! WOO" /end post
just to read through all the shitposts and see they were talking about the catchflee/pokestop softbans.. The thread should either be divided or people need to start specifying what kind of ban they had before being lifted.. I'm already beyond annoyed by this data error so these vague posts are killing me haha sigh hah

As soon i've found out that i couldn't login, started another bot and now that data error hasn't been lifted yet for 10 hours+ now but my new bot is getting back what i've lost.. mostly.. All these are hearsay and no solid proof might as well just wait it out with another bot.

It's gonna be sad af waking up tomorrow to the same problem just hope to get the goddamn perm ban message already. Or not maybe tomorrow things will be alright over the night who knows. Possible solution for the "try again later" ban ,
turn location services off and on delete pokemon go app and download again then, reinstall poke plus plus if your jailbroken and start the game you should be able to use pokestops and play nomally, this worked for me, can anyone else try this ?

Hi. Account name and username are two different things. If you created a name with google account, the username is still open for PTC. Still two different character. So you're still safe if you're soft-banned

I was banned too. I could catch pokemon but every pokestep says "try again later" and I could not collect items.

Now everythings work fine. So it was just a softban (maybe).

I will wait 2-3 days and I will try again the bots with a new account. let's see if the Niantic found a way to detect bots.

Anyone got unbanned from "failed to get game data from the server" yet? Or it won't be unbanned for sure already

It has been 16 hours for me since I got that message. People that say that this is a hard ban are just voicing their opinions. As of this post, Niantic has not officially mentioned anything about bans. Could it be possible? Yes. Could it be possible it is a multi day ban? Yes. Only time will tell.

What is known is that a ban wave did go out. This whole thread is proof of this. The message, "failed to retrieve data from server" DOES NOT mean we are banned.....yet.

Let's be patient and see what happens after 24 hours have gone by, maybe even 48 hours.

Let's hope for the best, but let's also be prepared for the worst.


Edit: It's also worth noting that I, personally, have never played a single video game where the company does not send a notice about a ban. It would be unprofessional of Niantic to not send out a notice about a permanent account closure. Considering that some of these accounts still have money in them in form of in-paid items. I would THINK they have a legal obligation to inform that account holder, at least via e-mail, about a permanent account closure.

It's GMT+8, 6.30am I just wake up at the morning. There is already more than 15 hours since yesterday around 3pm at the afternoon the moment when I notice I was received a pokestop soft banned. Finally, I was now able to loot from pokestops without "tray again later" message. Thanks God, niantic did give me a chance. I will temporary avoid to use bot at this moment. Just wait until the ban wave is over.

A lot of people went from softban to no ban. I had the can't loot pokestop ban for over 12 hours and now I can't even login. Didn't touch the account the whole day except for a few logins through my phone.
