Yes, got a "friend" you don't care about much? Send a dozen reports. Wait 2 days and they will be banned.

They are banning by device ID (probably IMEI?) and IP addresses. Don't waste your time. 1 star their shit app and flood their emails with spam and/or reports of legitimate players from social media. Anyone that states they have an account that hasn't been banned yet is either talking out of their ass or the next day they post it was banned.

I've tested resetting my mobile phone entirely and making a new account and sitting down at the park playing legitimately while using 4G with a new IP address - later on I was banned.

And if they were banning by device ID, how come I have logged my wife's account without no problem, and I have also a new account there that sometimes I log on and it's fine?

Why should I post my wife's ID if she plays legit and have done nothing wrong? Couldn't care less what you think of me, but maybe you can ask to the rest of people lurking around if they got banned on a new legit account on their phones, and then we will see if you're right or not.
