I'm sure this has been discussed but the search function isn't working atm.

Is there a way to NOT give the bot my Google credentials? That seems a bit insane to me as I'm not using a throw away account.

I read through the thread and someone said something about a Google APP PW but it wasn't very clear how that helps or how to set it up.

If not does anyone know a good bot that doesn't require handing over your account to them?

Do NOT put in your Google account password. I don't think there is any sinister issues with this program, but for safety reasons you should never input your plaintext password into a network-connecting piece of software.

Instead, to log in, you should generate an App Password via your Google account, which only allows a single app the very basic authorization. This can be found via several ways, but personally I find it the easiest to log into Gmail, click the 3x3 square next to my own username in the corner, then pick "My Account" -> "Login and Safety", then scroll down and pick "App Passwords". (These are loosely translated words since I use the Danish version).

Having generated an App Password, you merely copypaste that random password into the bot instead of your actual password, and viola!
