[New Rule] No Fake ID threads / Services.

Most of you, but not all of you, will agree that there should be a limit to scamming.

Let me get right to the point.

Robbing someone of their virtual good, of taking away something they never physically had at any point and time can get you in trouble if there is money involved between you and the victim. Unless you traded an account and took it back, or took the money and never gave the victim the account, next to nothing can happen to you.

Using a false ID and sending it to blizzard to get an account back / secured / authenticator removed is something entirely different. With enough proof ( Blizzard has, and will continue providing logs for identity theft ), anyone using a fake ID to claim an account back can be charged for Identity theft, and possession of a forged ID.

Now you might say there is no way someone would go that far, or there is no way the victim might notice, but after proving your identity to blizzard, they are required to provide you with actions taken on your account if asked ( that includes, and is not limited to, Phone calls and actions done during these phone calls, Faxes received, Emails sent and received and mail sent and received. )

When a company or even a not-for-profit organization collects, uses and/or deals with personal information, it might be legally required to immediately notify individuals whose information it is handling if there is a security breach relating to that information.
Apart from specific local laws that might require such notification, in both the U.S. and Canada there is a trend in legal jurisprudence and industry standards towards such an obligation based on concerns over the issue of identify theft.

MMOwned is not held liable for any actions taken by its users at any point and time, but I do believe that allowing such things to happen ( just like warez ) gives the website a darker image than it should have, and makes us look like we promote these kind of things.

Scamming is one thing, asking for legal trouble ( Users, not MMOwned ) is something else.

I would like to see a new rule to prevent that kind of thing from happening on MMOwned, as much as we all think people wouldn't be dumb enough to do something stupid with these ID's, it's easier to get caught than you think, and most people who discover the "adrenaline rush of scamming for the first time" don't always think before acting.

Thank you for bearing with me during this wall of text.

Please, if this does go through, say that Fake-ID services are not allowed. I need one for college and not for scamming. =)

Does this involve the service I made at all, because I made an ID for Soul Eater and jerad. I'm sure they would inform you I'm not scamming people in anyway. You can ask them yourself if you'd like, I only did it to show off my photo shop ability's. They promised to not use it for bad :P

PS: Stealing is stealing, it doesn't matter what it is, so stop trying to justify yourself. Your whole "bad rap" thing about MMOwned is ludicrous. MMOwned already has a bad rap.
It's a website full of scammers, cheaters, exploiters, and thieves.

Troys you may want to re-read the rules, just saying you agree is against them.

Aside from that, here's my view.

Get rid of them, all of them. In the grand scheme of things, a fake ID can bring no good. You want one for an account that isn't even truly yours? You would risk a federal crime for a virtual thing? And as to what Scrubs has said, that's even worse. Needing a Fake-ID for college it's quite obvious you want it for liquor. Get caught with that and it's a biiiiig proble,.

I just think no good can come out of them.

All scamming that does not involve in gold currency should be removed.

Anything that could have the cops involved should be removed.

So you want to delete the whole scamming section? Those people will go somewhere else, the people looking for the ID's will still look for them. MMOwned isn't held liable for other peoples actions. If someone does something stupid with something that wasn't made for something stupid that's their fault.

If I shove a fork in my eye, who's fault is that?! Should I call the fork manufacture and tell them they're demented and sold me an eye gouger? No, I'm an idiot for shoving it in my eye, it's not made for that.

    Same concept.

Everything besides in-game scamming, as well as things like phishers (but still related to games) should be removed. The Real Life stuff shouldn't be allowed, it's completely illegal in every way. Everything else here isn't fully illegal.

Im going to go ahead an break the high rep streak with my opinion: Christina3d i cannot stand how stupid what you said is. Just because someone is looking to get something doesnt mean you have to give it to them because they can get it any where else. For example: Your a parent, your kid wants to smoke pot. They want and will try to get it anyway. Does this mean that you would give your child the pot? Or would you tell them it is bad and teach them about why they shouldnt smoke?

Also i completely agree i think that anything that has to do with virtual good stealing should be allowed, including phishers and ingame scams.
This may seem "ludicrous" but i believe that anything that could get a person in legal trouble should be kept away from this site, and even maybe demote anything that may get someone in legal trouble

If people are retarded enough to do that, let them have at it. It's their own fault if they get caught.

Stop trying to distinguish between acceptable and unacceptable scamming. Whether the person looses a tangible item or not is irrelevant. Theft is theft, so stop trying to justify it, either outlaw scamming on the site outright (because theft, identity theft, unlawful access to people's computers/accounts/etc, and everything else that goes along with scamming IS illegal -- not to mention just plain fraud, something which is illegal and that pretty much all of scamming encompasses) or just leave it alone.

As soon as you say "this is fine but this isn't" you draw the line between what is 'acceptable' in terms of theft and what isn't. Whether that is the intent or not it WILL happen and its not something I really think that should be done.
