As many of us know, today is September 11, and marks the 10 year anniversary of the terror attacks on the World Trade Center, and attempted attacks of the Pentagon and White House.

For most of us this strikes close to home, if you're a resident of New York city, or of the United States in general. If not, and you're un aware of this tragic event here is some information for you so you may know of this ungodly act.

Early on the morning of September 11, 2001, 19 hijackers took control of four commercial airliners en route to San Francisco and Los Angeles after takeoff from Boston, Newark, and Washington, D.C. Planes with long flights were intentionally selected for hijacking because they would be heavily fueled. At 8:46 a.m., five hijackers crashed American Airlines Flight 11 into the World Trade Center's North Tower (1 WTC) and at 9:03 a.m. another five hijackers crashed United Airlines Flight 175 into the South Tower (2 WTC).
Five hijackers flew American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon at 9:37 a.m. A fourth flight, United Airlines Flight 93, under the control of four hijackers, eventually crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania at 10:03 a.m. after the passengers fought the hijackers. Flight 93's ultimate target is believed to have been either the Capitol or the White House. Flight 93's cockpit voice recorder revealed crew and passengers attempted to seize control of the plane from the hijackers after learning through phone calls that similarly hijacked planes had been crashed into buildings that morning. Once it became evident to the hijackers that the passengers might regain control of the plane, one hijacker ordered another to roll the plane and intentionally crash it. Soon afterward, Flight 93 crashed into a field near Shanksville.
Some passengers were able to make phone calls using the cabin airphone service and mobile phones and provided details that there were several hijackers aboard each plane; that mace, tear gas, or pepper spray was used and that some people aboard had been stabbed. Reports indicated hijackers stabbed and killed pilots, flight attendants, and one or more passengers. In their final report, the 9/11 Commission found the hijackers had recently purchased multi-function hand tools and assorted knives and blades. A flight attendant on Flight 11, a passenger on Flight 175, and passengers on Flight 93 said the hijackers had bombs, but one of the passengers also said he thought the bombs were fake. The FBI found no traces of explosives at the crash sites, and the 9/11 Commission concluded the bombs were probably fake.
Once it became known that Flight 11 had been hijacked, two F-15s were scrambled from Otis Air National Guard Base in Massachusetts and were airborne by 8:53 a.m. The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) had 9 minutes notice that Flight 11 had been hijacked. Because of poor communication with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), they had no notice about any of the other flights before they crashed. After both of the Twin Towers had been hit, more fighters were scrambled from Langley Air Force Base in Virginia at 9:30 a.m. At 10:20 a.m. orders were issued to shoot down any commercial aircraft that could be positively identified as being hijacked. These instructions were not relayed in time for the fighters to take action. Some fighters took to the air without live ammunition, knowing that to prevent the hijackers from striking their intended targets the pilots might have to intercept and crash their fighters into the hijacked planes, possibly ejecting at the last moment. In a 2005 interview with the fighter pilots who responded from Otis Air National Guard Base, one pilot observed, "Nobody would be calling us heroes if we shot down four airliners on September 11."

Three buildings in the World Trade Center Complex collapsed due to structural failure. The South Tower collapsed at 9:59 a.m. after burning for 56 minutes in a fire caused by the impact of United Airlines Flight 175. The North Tower collapsed at 10:28 a.m. after burning for 102 minutes. When the North Tower collapsed, debris fell on the nearby 7 World Trade Center building (7 WTC) damaging it and starting fires. These fires burned for hours, compromising the building's structural integrity, and 7 WTC collapsed at 5:21 p.m.
All aircraft within the continental U.S. were grounded, and aircraft already in flight were told to land immediately. All international civilian aircraft were either turned back or redirected to airports in Canada or Mexico, and all international flights were banned from landing on U.S. soil for three days. The attacks created widespread confusion among news organizations and air traffic controllers. Among the unconfirmed and often contradictory news reports aired throughout the day, one of the most prevalent said a car bomb had been detonated at the U.S. State Department's headquarters in Washington, D.C. Another jet—Flight 1989—was suspected of having been hijacked, but this too turned out to be false after it responded to controllers and landed safely in Cleveland, Ohio.
In a September 2002 interview, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Ramzi bin al-Shibh, who are believed to have organized the attacks, said Flight 93's intended target was the United States Capitol, not the White House. During the planning stage of the attacks, Mohamed Atta, the hijacker and pilot of Flight 11, thought the White House might be too tough a target and sought an assessment from Hani Hanjour, who would later hijack and pilot Flight 77. Mohammed also said al-Qaeda initially planned to target nuclear installations rather than the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, but decided against it, fearing things could "get out of control". Final decisions on targeting, according to Mohammed, were left in the hands of the pilots.

I was and still am very sorry for those who suffered,
and still do suffer, from the events of 9/11. There is
no exception to that. Although I feel like instead of
remembering the actual strike we should focus on
lost individuals and their families.

What comes to the "conspiracy" theories, freedom of speech still applies, right?

Before I begin, I have complete and total respect for everyone who lost a loved one that day. I have complete and total respect for the loss of life that day, and for all the suffering that has happened as an after effect of that day.


However,

Mention should be made of all the very interesting and unusual weirdness from that day.

-Only 3 steel framed buildings have ever collapsed due to fire in the 100 plus year history of steel frame buildings. all three were owned by the same man. all 3 fell in the same way, on the same day. all 3 miraculously fell into there own foundations. an extremely, EXTREMELY lucky thing.
all 3 fell at nearly free fall speed. ~15 seconds. as calculated from footage taken that day. the law of the conservation of motion would have calculated approx. 45 seconds if there had been resistance to the collapse at each floor.
-Emergency personnel and eyewitnesses on scene reported multiple explosions after the initial impact events. however, this was not mentioned in the mainstream media.

-The Pentagon, one of the most secure and protected buildings on the planet, was also hit. the government refuses to release more than 15 frames of footage. none show a plane. also, footage from CCTV cameras from surrounding buildings was confiscated hours after the attack, and also will not be released.

-On the morning of September 11th, NORAD was in day two of a week long terrorist drill exercise called "Vigilant Guardian". this was a simulation of a real terrorist attack on the WTC complex involving Hijacked planes. VP Dick Cheney was in direct control at NORAD, the first time in american history that a President or VP was in direct control of the military agency.
the Other Exercise being run at NORAD that day, Northern Vigilance, directed planes from the New York and Washington areas away to north Carolina, Canada and Alaska, leaving 14 fighter jets to protect the entire US mainland. In fact, no planes were launched from Andrews Air-force Base (15 miles from the Pentagon) until after the Pentagon had been hit.


-The official story is that WTC7 collapsed due to fire. However, this building had all the tip-offs of being a controlled Demolition including Crimping in the centre of the building as it began collapsing.
Lost in WTC7 were large areas owned and secured by the CIA, FBI as well as thousands of SEC Case files Detailing Corporate Fraud cases, including WorldCom and Enron case files.


-Steel melts at 2750 F. an open air Hydrocarbon fire will burn, at hottest, 1200 F. this is characterized by red/orange flames, such as those seen on September 11th.
a controlled burn of hydrocarbons will burn at 1800 F max. (as an example: your steel pots and pans and steel stove do not melt from the cooking elements of a gas stove.)

(please note: I am pointing no fingers at anyone. I'm not some crackpot who things that bush and his secret cabal of cronies orchestrated the whole thing. all I'm saying is the investigation of that day was nowhere near complete, and nowhere near as intensive as it should have been.)

I read this morning on facebook a friend's status that something like.. in the 9/11 (allegedly) terrorist attacks 1 out of 10,000 americans die and 10 years later they still make SUCH a huge deal about it. In the Oslo bombing and massacre on that Island 1 in 50,000 Norwegians died and like 1 month later people got pretty much over it.
My personal believe is that it was an inside job, there's just too much "evidence" about stuff that makes it pretty unlikely it happened otherwise, yet, if any of the victim's relateds read this, I feel sorry for the huge loss whcih happened that day.

I still remember the day of 11.9.2001, I was living in Paris, France that time, went grocery shopping with my mom when my brother called my mom's cell saying about something huge that happened in the USA and it being reported on ALL possible channels, especially N-TV (You Germans know, Nachrichten TV something like the German version of CNN or so, dunno I don't watch any american TV except for tv series lol)... craaaaazy stuff with all those explosions, buildings collapsing into their own footprints (*wink wink wink wink*) and shit going on. Lol

on 9/11/2001 i was job hunting in Invermere, Bc, Canada. i was walking down to the Youth employment center and i remember seeing people standing around cars, radios, etc. i diddnt have time to stop though.

i got to the Y.E.C. and walked in to see a big crowd talking and pointing at the TV. i looked up at the tv just in time to see the 2nd plane hit.

needless to say i diddnt do much job searching that day. and even that day i was pretty much constantly thinking "okay, something isnt right here."

I don't think you can compare dying children in Africa to the events of 9/11. Imo the reason 9/11 has more attention is because it was an EVIL heartless attack.

ErIcH 9/11 was 3 thousand people and ten years ago its not the most important thing to have ever happened, ever. not even by a long shot, even if you squint your eyes.

I know that neither of us will convince each other of anything, but why is the melting point of steel always cited as "proof"? People have been heating and shaping iron for hundreds of years through various methods (forging is one example). Heating the metal to its boiling point is not necessary to get metal into a doughy form, and much less than the boiling point would be needed needed to reduce the strength of the metal.

Steel loses around 50% of its strength at 1200 degrees, however that doesn't change the time it took the buildings to collapse from 45 seconds (speed with resistance form debris under the building) down to 15 seconds (observed speed. also speed of free fall (aka Zero resistance.)
