So the DoT / Resilience change going into this patch is designed to address both Priests and Warlocks in PvP and I'm happy with that. But it does seem to me that this change, like SO many "Warlock nerfs" before it, is going to adversely affect Priests far more than its primary target: Warlocks.
Priests have Mind Blast, SW Death, Mind Flay, and two DoTs. This change is literally going to nerf 1/3 of our Direct Damage spells, and our currently weakest one too. Mind Flay is our only spammable Direct Damage spell. Our *ONLY* one. Mind Blast has an 8 second, and SWeath has a 12 second cooldown.
Mind Flay is a channeled spell that receives only 58% of our +Spell Damage instead of 84% like expected, it also has no Spell Pushback Prevention like Arcane Missiles or Drain Life/Mana, and is slowed by spell haste reductions like CoT and a Mage's "Slow."
Now Blizzard is taking our ONLY spammable Direct Damage spell and reducing it by another 10% in PvP bringing it down to around 48%~ coefficient... This is getting silly ... It is getting to a point where Priests might be better off using the Season 2 Arena Wand over our ONLY spammable Direct Damage spell.
Merciless Gladiator's Touch of Defeat: 179.2 damage per second
Priest's Mind Flay: 176 DPS - 10% (17.6) = 158.4 damage per second
And a Wand is immune from:
- Kick, CS, Shield Bash etc
- Silence
- Spell Haste reductions (Slow, Curse of Tongues etc)
- Spell Pushback / Knockback
A Wand can also kill totems, as opposed to Mind Flay which can't.
My tears most likely taste very sweet.
