no compatible video codec was found

My vegas version is 7.0 (old i know but i've been using it too long to change), and all of a sudden when i try to render any projects my vegas throws this error up. I have rendered using this codec before and this has happened with no change to anything.

The error is "no compatible video codec was found"

The codec is called x264vfw. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the codec multiple times, and it is still bringing the error up. Any ideas?

The codec is in the video format list and it even lets me configure the options for the codec.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

you really should upgrade to vegas 9.0 PRO, its not much of a change and works a helluva lot better.

Looks like they work together fine. Gimme a project file and I'll see if I can open it

    Cheers for the replies.

Heres a link to a test project i just made:
MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

But surely this is just avoiding the problem? Won't i just run into the same issue with the new vegas?

Well tbh there are better codecs that come WITH vegas 9 (mainconcept aac/avc, its h.264 mp4 aswell)
I'll look at this again in the morning, no time atm.
