How does rep etc work

I have spent a long time searching for how this websites rep works, and what it does/means. (For some odd reason this site doesn't seem to have a F.A.Q. about REP.

Questions

1. When can you start getting rep?
2. When can you start giving rep?
3. What does rep do? (Does it unlock extra features on the site?)
4. How do you increase the amount of rep you can give?

2. When can you start giving rep? after 5 post
3. What does rep do? (Does it unlock extra features on the site?) Yes 80 rep you become c0ntrib 325 elite and i belive 650 is legendary
4. How do you increase the amount of rep you can give? every year on the site 2000 post or 150 rep you recivie

Reputation is like this

1.Whenever you post a useful contribution to the site (people may or may not give you rep)
2. You can start giving rep once you have rep power, it's better if you escape leecher status. (oh and 5 posts ect.)
3.At 80 reputation (or a donation) you can access other features of the site. (such as exclusive downloads, shoutbawk ect.)
4. There is a post on that system look in the site news section.

I am also wondering why I don't have a rep bar showing on the right side of my posts, like everyone else. (Where it shows the person's reputation, rep power etc.)

And, when am I able to get my own sig, like so many users have?

No clue why your stuff isn't there KingYoshi, but I have a question, how often does the rep you can give "respawn", or refill I should say?

I can give a couple rep, then I have to wait 24 hours. I just am still wondering why no rep etc. is appearing. I haven't seen anyone else with this issue.

They are working on that, I reported the issue to Matt today. Its not Your fault.
