    How does model editing work?

I don't really know what it is and I don't get it.

You can fool the server into thinking there's a new building there where there really isn't? It's very confusing.

Everything visual with wow like trees, player models, and the world terrain is all client side, so its easily changeable.
All your doing is replacing a model. The server still thinks it's there, it just cant tell what model its loading.

Like, how is it that someone can turn a campfire into a diagonol flight of stairs to get to high places? Shouldn't the server know it's not really there?

The idea of modeling editing (correct if I am wrong) is to change things on your screen, kind of like addons changing your UI but it's not the same for anyone else. For example, if you were to "model edit" a warglaive to be blue or red, it would be blue or red for you, but to everyone else it would be orange, hope this helped!

I understand that, but I don't understand things like the camp fire-Dark Portal Stairs swap.

So I come here, and not even the Model Editing experts/specialists/people who come to help know the answer to my question?

    Kinda sad. ><

Basically some things are server side, and some are client side. The way items work is client side. So you could change a campfire that does nothing but burn you, into stairs, that would carry you. Its all in the code based on model. A certian model is coded to do a certian thing. Hope this clears things up.

The way items work is client side, okay, I see that much, but if you are able to walk up the stairs, and the server sees you walking up it, and other places see you floating in the air...how does that work? If it was purely client side, then you'd just walk through the stairs, rather than walking up it.

Models are loaded client side, so any model can be pretty much changed.
If you change a "Solid" campfire, into a "Solid" case of stairs, then the stairs will be just as solid as the camp fire..

This is coming from a non-ME expert so bare with me.. >.>
