The official "3.6.3b" patch update is coming in about 45min, hopefully it doesn't break our shit too much.

doesn't seem to be broken for me, however I can't get it working inside a vm
does it actually work inside a vm? maybe I need some specific settings?
I get this error when I try to launch PoeHud:

This project should of been left to rot (atleast for the public), there's already lots of people asking GGG to re-add anticheat due to the influx of bots and skiddies.
Yes, this is currently not detected. Start to update it, and they'll just re-add detection for it which means scanning all processes on your system - not fun. As much as I love open source collaborated projects, this really hurts us solo RE-ers who put months into analysis.
All this project needs is a class to write memory and call the character-action in-game function to make a 100% full bot, which I can guarantee people already have done

This is currently detected, just try to launch it on fresh account with just public plugins like stashie or even flaskroutine plugins and i can guarantee that you will be banned in a few days, remaking lowlvl zones for strongboxes also was a bannable thing past in days. As far as i understand ggg just avoiding ban account with a big history and mtxes, and focusing on bans people who acts exactly like a bots (people who do same repeateble things for a big ammount of time). Anyway, botters will make their own tools if you take away poehud from them, they always will exist in a game like poe.

As the above guy said, this is actually detected if you don't use protection.
Writing an internal bot can also be detected from what we know of their anti-cheat. PoEHUD's is not designed to be an internal bot, but is to be an external hud that only relies on reading memory to minimize the risk and the likelyhood that GGG will target us. It worked for a long time once the maphack was removed. They recently beefed up their anti-cheat and ExileBuddy dropped out of the game. Until they beef up their detection a significant amount, I think PoEHUD will remain reasonably safe while staying out of process and permissions of PoE limited.

I can't believe someone's gatekeeping cheating in a cheating forum. If anything, PoEHud is one of the lightest "cheating" software's I've seen in recent years. It's just a bunch of QoL shit, for not wasting time in the game.

I've been thinking about making a lightweight version (I think vmv used to manage one). You think that'd be a good idea? Just the basic HUD stuff, no plugin support, etc.?

There have always been bot complaint posts, this is nothing new.
Yes, this is currently not detected.
It says in giant bold print on the first page of this thread, as well as the github page, "CURRENTLY DETECTED"...
Start? It's been updated non-stop for its entire existence, why would updating it now change anything?

They'd have to overhaul their detection method quite a bit to scan everything. It'd have to run in kernel mode, or it'd be too easy to get around. Not sure people are gonna be happy with ggg adding what is essentially spyware just to make sure no one is using HUD.

Ah, so it's really just about you. Got it. This explains a lot.
All this project needs is a class to write memory
It doesn't need a class for that. It already has a class for WinAPI stuff, it just needs a function.

Yes, it's already been done. And in fact has been done for 3+ years. It was happening when I took over because coyl didn't like a bot maker stealing his offsets when he'd update them.
Frankly, I don't like bots either. But it's not exactly hard to decompile (and deobfuscate) a c# program, so the choices are limited.

In Visual Studio, what part of the project do I rename so that the original .exe output isn't called PoEHUD (in regards to the advice in the OP). I changed the project name in project properties but the output .exe is still called poehud.
EDIT: I found it...do I just change "Assembly name" or do I also change "default namespace"? (I'm assuming changing the latter will completely mess it up).
EDIT2: Okay I uuh...think I got it to work...but now plugins all have the error that they can't find the assembly/file.

If you just want to change original file name, the easiest method i found was to use ResEdit-x64. Here is how: How to Change the Metadata Stored in Executable Files in Windows | Digital Citizen

Limited User method seems to work so far. It's linked in 1st post.

You should, I'm all for it, 99% of the reason I use HUD is for the 'Monster' overlay feature (Shows where creatures are on the overlay)
If you can make a lightweight version that has that feature, along with a few other lightweight features, I'm all for it, specially since it would probably be considered a little safer and would be a tonne easier to maintain I'm assuming.
