[QUESTIONS] Beginner questions about memory reading/writing

For a while I've been searching on- and off-site for a good guide about memory reading/writing. But always came to vague articles that didn't help me at all. If someone could be so friendly of answering few questions that would be amazing.

    My questions:
    1. Is it legal to retrieve a piece of information from a process to an external program? For example viewing your hp in a game on a program such as AutoIt.
    2. Is it permitted to modify a value of a process? For instance x,y,z coords by a small amount.
    3. Continuing from the question above. Is the adjustment detectable if you change it by a small amount? Making the server think that your movement is "natural".

Thank you in advance and if someone could just push me in the right direction of an article that would help me as well. I've been dormant about this for too long.

    1) Yes. It is your memory to edit. It is typically against the ToU/EULA however.
    2) It depends on the game. Typically, no.
    3) It also depends on the game. It is almost always possible to detect something, no matter how much you change it. For example, just watch for programs calling WriteProcessMemory.
