Here's what I've done so far:
1. I had previously installed RXP so I went into the WTF and searched for the created variable files - deleted them manually
2. I went to the CurseForge app and deleted Saved Variables from there too.
3. Uninstalled the addon (just to make sure I start clean) - Made sure the folder is not there and there are no saved variables
3. Installed the addon again
4. downloaded the archived folder and extracted it in another folder
5. Copied the whole "Guides" folder and pasted it within the Addon folder - Replaced the files that it asked me to.
6. Logged in the game, but I see only the default available guides and the ones from the Guides folder aren't showing up.
- Is it possible that they've patched it up with some of the last addon updates ?
Just wanted to say that I'm a big fan - thank you for all the hard work and guidance.
Is it possible to post a picture how it should look like ?

Patched? I literally do what the developers did. So now it still works, and it will work fine.
What you don’t say is what you extracted it with. I say that because people intentionally use the wrong software to extract file. I wonder why it doesn’t work.
7zip is free
Hey BlueRainsky, I used 7zip - Extract here (in a separate folder and then Copy/Pasted the files)
But is this how it should look like ?
I can somewhat understand that this isn’t working for you, but I don’t quite understand why though!
I managed to get the level 20+ guides working at some point. It was about a week ago, and I used the method described for Macs: placing the classic era folder addon in the appropriate location and pasting in the downloaded guides (I used The Unarchiver and the merge method).
Everything was working fine on all my characters. By the way, I’m playing HC. Occasionally, I encountered some errors, so I decided a couple days ago to remove the addon entirely and reinstall it (using the same version via the Curse downloader). I also deleted the WTF files and variables from Curse.
After reinstalling everything (using the exact same method as before), the downloaded RestedXP addon stopped loading entirely.
Why do people go to curseforge and manually install and update it every time. Instead of just using curseforge updater
How is it not working?
They installed the addon and guides and they prove that it shows up. But it is not working, when it is working in game?
How are people having issues with
Install curseforge
install/update the addon with curseforge updater
Extract the file to RXP folder that's it.
People say it does not work when they moved the guides.rar and never extracted it.
Or they installed the guides in to the guides folder like RXP/guides/guides when I never said that. I said put it in the RXP folder and overwrite but people do not want to do that for some reason.
Please accept my apologies, it was cos windows 11 just brought in the folder into RXP, so it was adding the guides folder WITHIN the guides folder in rxp/guides, so it was going rxp/guides/guides/... etc
so when you extract it, make sure you drag the folder within the extracted folder, this would be less confusing for people if the download was the RXP file name, something other than guides.
thank you.
Why do people do this?
I say "extract to RXP folder and overwrite"
Why do people do different?
Well if I named it RXP people would be complaining that it is not the addon.
The files is guides, so I name the file guides. I say extract to RXP folder and people claim they do the exact thing and then state they did not.
I understand that you get frustrated hence your terrible attitude.
Call the file "RXP" and no one will make the mistake. It was only cos i was following exactly what was happening when i moved it it was creating another file called "guides" within the guides folder i noticed.
People following your guide WORD FOR WORD will make this mistake cos you called the downloaded file GUIDES. They're moving the extracted files, CALLED GUIDES, into the RXP folder and it doesnt work, cos theres a GUIDES file under the GUIDES extracted file.
Mine was a schoolboy error, im better than that i shouldnt have made that error, but people who wouldnt have thought to follow the process would never notice it, cos theyre following your guide word for word.
I appreciate what you've done providing these files. I dont appreciate your dogshit condescending attitude to people. Change the file name and you'll eleviate half the trouble shooting you think you're having to do.
I asked for the extraction to be done directly into the /RXP folder, but instead, it was extracted into /RXP/Guides, which created a /RXP/Guides/guides structure. That doesn't follow my instructions, and it shows that they weren’t followed as I requested.
Instead of acknowledging the error, it seems like there's been some miscommunication about whose responsibility it is to follow the guidelines. People, including yourself, are getting defensive instead of fixing the issue, which makes it difficult to move forward.
I emphasized that the files should be extracted into the main /RXP folder, and that it should overwrite existing files. But some people are still choosing not to follow these simple steps, which is frustrating. When instructions are ignored, and the issue isn’t addressed, it's easy to see why things don’t work as expected.
People tend to blame me for things that could have been resolved if the instructions were followed, and I’m just trying to get everyone to work together on this. It’s not about attitude, it's about ensuring that everyone follows the same steps so the process works correctly.
In this case, I don’t think giving instructions is helpful when the simplest ones weren’t followed, and it caused confusion in the first place.
I understand. The name still shouldnt be "guides.zip" that would 100% fix people making posts about it. A lot of people right click zips and extract here and then move the file cos it's quicker that finding it from within the extraction menu, hence why so many people are having issue.
People are right clicking, extract here, then dragging THAT extracted file called Guides and putting that into the RXP folder, which is causing the issue. I can pretty much guarentee this.
Change the name, this stops. Thats my advice to save you your sanity, take it or leave it.
You seem to take everyone asking for help as though theyre personally insulting you; theyre not. I for one was extremely polite.
