Sorry I may be a goober who cant read but when I attempt to extract the Mists of Pandaria.rar folder I get an error


An unexpected error is preventing the archive from being extracted.

Error 0x80004005: Unspecified error

And then the extract wizard closes. Any idea how to fix this?

Ty BlueRainsky for all ure hard work and effort I really do appreciate what ure doing. I feel bad that u have to deal with these goobers that can't follow simple instructions.


I wanted to know if it would be possible that this addon works for the upcoming private server Project Epoch it uses the 3.5.5a wotlk client.

They did not make the addon for 3.3.5, the cloest is 4.0
You could try that and downgrade the interface number.

Then try the guides to see if they work

You see a windows error, why did you not look it up?

You would have had an answer quicker than you could have made your post.

It is saying, why are you using windows extractor on a .rar file when it does not extract .rar

It would have said use 7zip.

But instead of looking it up, you post the windows error. For someone to look up something you could have and get the answer you could have found instantly.

turn off ure download protection from the browser ure using if it flags as a virus then that might be the issue

I never need to do that. But people want to be unprotected on the internet, no protection and no VPN and wonder why things happen.

Extract two adult folder that’s it

So why did you strip out the files from the folder and then put it in the Addons folder expect it to work?

I clearly say extract add-ons, so why are people stripping out the files and expecting it to work?

Thank you for making this available, however your instructions are super confusing so here comes a step by step guide on how to get this working.

IMPORTANT: Do all these steps while you are NOT having the game running, or you wont be able to delete the saved variables files because they will be re-created when the game client is closed or if you reload your UI ingame.

Step 1 (If you have had Rested XP installed before, if not then you can skip this)
1.1 - Find your WoW install folder (example C:\1. Spel\World of Warcraft)
1.2 - Go into the version of WoW you want this for and go into <WoW Version>/WTF/Account/<Your account name>/SavedVariables
1.3 - Delete the files "RXPGuides.LUA" and "RXPGuides.lua.bak"
1.4 - Go back to the folder "<Account Name>" and go into eaach individual server folder, then go into the name of your characters folder, then go into saved variables and repeat step 1.3.

Step 2 - Install RestedXP Guides addon from, to take an example, CurseForge either through the website or their client.

Step 3 - Download the guide from the first link provided by BlueRainsky in the first post.

Step 4 - Extract the .RAR file into your '<your wow version>/Interface/Addons' folder, do NOT extract it directly the RXPGuides addon folder as that wont work.
Note 1: You need a program such as 7zip or Winrar to unpack the downloaded .RAR file, you will not be able to unpack it with the built in tool in Windows.
Note 2: The reason why you add the actual guide into the 'Addons' folder is because the guide is it's own addon and not a module for the Rested XP addon.

And feedback for you BlueRainsky, you really should update the main post with a FAQ section where you can take up frequently asked questions in this thread and create a small step by step guide (or just copy the steps i just wrote down, i dont really care) and have it in the main post so people easily and clearly can see what they need to do, as your "guide" in the beginning of the guide is honestly useless and not clear at all. Not everyone is good with computers and with how easy it is to update and maintain addons nowadays, loads and loads of people dont know how to manually handle addons as it's not normally needed nowadays.
