    Adding a "layer" above water

Just got an idea from somewhere in my head, is it possible to add a walk/mountable "layer" above the water, allowing you to walk/mount on all water surfaces?

Yes you can, many ways to do it. Probly best way for short surfaces is to make campfire model into a big bridge and place teh campfire just near the surface of the water.

I was more thinking on a invisable layer above the water, or on the surface of the water, like the invisiable walls outside instances, wich prevents you from going trough it. (ie, arathi basin instance portal)

Water textures, Texture.Mpq, Xtextures > Ocean, River, Ect. There all just .blps though wont help you much cept to alter the look of things..

The game mechanics here may be a little more than i personally know, but from my best guess I would say what the server sees as water and land are pretty much set straight forward. Not allowing client side changes to be affected by anything more than the animations. Invisi walls would be the .000 included in many .adt files.. However to find a horizonatal, perfectly flat one might be an issue. I would assume the actuall recognition would be server side since it is impossible to edit where the fatigue lines are, and things of that nature.. But best of luck if i am wrong about any of this.

Since you can remove the invis walls, i belive you should be able to "add" them above the water. I was also not thinking on removing the fatique lines, only to be able to run on the water/mount on the water, some feets above the ground, ie when running to Onyxia. Most for fun.

I belive the water is only a texture file, nothing more, sadly.

You can't walk to GM Island, you are thinking on the tanaris island.

And, i belive they did it when it still was possible to mount when you got the walk-water-thing from shamans.

Re: Adding a "layer" above water

Actually that isnt completely correct, one of the most advanced model editing techniques is adt adding, editing, and removals. Geek33 a <Nogg-aholic> I believe in one of his vids used an added adt file to walk across the void that we use the zeps to cross when going to GM island.. However that could all be theory.. It is very possible to add and remove things of that nature.. Like for instance the fact that under gm island is something I doubt most people knew about.. or even realized how to get there.

    See Photo:

That is part of Gm island that most have never seen and yes it is live without model editing..

Even if you could place then in the files you would have to find one that was horizontal vs vertical as most are.
