    DBC help...

    I have tried for many hours trying to Edit my horde moonkin into a Direfurbolg and have had no luck. all of the guides i look at have me edit with a DBC editor,

    that is fine and all but when i get into the file in the DBC editor the column where there is supposed to be text there is none only some numbers.

    i have also tried doing it the CSV method in Microsoft Excel but i cannot get DBC util to work and convert my CSV into a DBC any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Some DBC Editors use only numbers.
    This, for example, uses mostly words (ie Black Qiraji Rasonating Crystal would be RidingSilithidTankSkinArmoredBlack).
    This one uses numbers. Black Qiraji Rasonating Crystal instead shows up as 24559.

    Numbered DBC Editors usually are harder to screw up with and fail less, but require a bit more effort in using.

    Also ensure that you're extracting the file directly from your World of Warcraft -> Data -> enUS (or whatever client you're using) -> patch-enUS-3.MPQ -> CreatureDisplayInfo.dbc. If you're extracting from someone else's premade MPQ it will show up in whatever format it was edited in.

    awesome that text one makes it easier to follow guides but i apparently have no idea what i am doing...my moonkin only shows up as a big green moonkin. do you think you could point me in the right direction to a guide that i could use? most of them seem outdated. thanks again

    Moonkin whole green is often texture errors.

    When DBC editing doesn't work you can always manually swap the files.

    There is a sticky in the guides section that sums up ALL guides, well some are outdated, true, but the method how to swap files has never been changed so that's the basics you got. Well read up those guides and find your way. Here is a little summary of what files swapping is:

    each swap requires the following things:

    -M2
    -BLP
    -00.SKIN

    The M2 is the model, the BLP is the texture, and the 00.SKIN is for the texture coordinates.

    When swapping X with Y, you need to rename Y to X contents.

    For example, you want to change your moonkin to a demon, then you need to export the 3 files above of the demon, and rename them to the moonkin files, and then you import those 3 files in a selfmade mpq and you're finished.

    Once again, a detailed guide about that is in the guides section, good luck.

    wow after taking a look at some other MPQs people have done and taking a look at your post it took me 10minutes to do the change lol wish i tried that method to begin with, much simpler than DBC thank you both for your help much appreciated

    **edit** now i keep crashing lol guess it wasnt that simple. =(

    damn i guess i am now crashing because there is no drink animation for the furbolg, is there any way to make me drink without crashing?

    For some dbcs taliis is still the best dbc editor
    With that you won't have this problem:
