Need to learn how to Find a Particular Armor in MyWarcraftStudio quickly. Method?

I can find the armor quickly in WowModelViewer, naturally.

But MyWarcraftStudio, when digging into the common.mpq or whatever, has filenames that have nothing to do with the sorts of ID's that are available thorugh WMV or allakazham.

Is there a master list somewhere that I am missing?

For example, I want to find "Fleet Refugee's Boots" which in Wow Model Viewer have an ID of [25951] [22680]. I can also find this in the list found on WowModelViewer's website, downloads tab, Item Lists page, the wrath item list. Also has that same [25951] [22680] ID. But how does that ID help me? I need to know where it's at in the Data Folder Structure, and exactly what it's called. I know how to extrapolate, for example look at mail and leather boots that have "Northrend" in the name somewhere, but so far that method of searching has not found me these particular boots.

There must be a master list somewhere, but hell if I can find it.

Anyone out there want to teach me this trick? I'll get a lot of mileage out of it, once I've learned.

    Thanks!

Searched for this question on two different wow modeling forums for over 30 minutes, so I must be using the wrong search terms or something.

In wow model viewer, you can choose a character and then in the list you choose a head for example. Then after you selected those, go to view > model control. It will list the models you currently got in view, so the character model and the head model. Then just click the dropdown menu and you see something like bloodelffemale.m2 and helm_raid_hunter_h_01_bef.m2

    The
helm_raid_hunter_h_01_bef.m2 is the model file correct, but, considering blp and 00.skin files also uses the same treepath, well you found them all at the same time.

That is my way for looking things up easier.

But to your main question, you used Fleet Refugee's Boots as example. The method I listed will NOT work for that, because feet/hands/cape/chest/legs are NOT assigned to a M2, so they won't show up in model control. BUT, there is an easier way

Select what boots, cape, or whatever you want to equip. Once you are done, click on file > export textures. With this, you can export all the textures that is currently in view. Just press export all, or, select the textures you want to export and click on export. Considering that feet etc don't use M2, you can just export them and then afterwards edit it in photoshop (use a converter first to change the .BLP to a format photoshop can read).

I hope this make things more clear for you, good luck further with your model edit.

I think that does indeed help me out a great deal! I may still have minor hiccups with figuring out what tree path to plunk the changed .blp's into, but that's probably a surmountable goal for me.

    THANK YOU! +Rep
Modding for the joy of it!

I see this is already solved but here is a guide that helps locating any .blps much faster and you dont have to remember/write down treepath: Guide: Find and obtain equipment textures by name
With this guide you dont really need to use My Warcraft Studio at all.
