    Learning to Mount Swap

I have searched all over this site to learn how to do mount swapping or how to use programs that might do so.

as of right now mywarcraftstudio doesn't seem to work because i am unable to view the 3d models of the .m2 files.

and nothing else seems to be up to date on how to learn how to do this, or a program that can.

can anyone point me in the right direction for how to learn?

forget that, everyones just able to tell you look in the guide section.

since i've been asking for a guide in about 3~ threads and looking for it for about overall.... 5 hours?, i know what im saying.

expect answers like : look on the homepage and you'll find a guide.
and please, dont post the dbc guide, how to change a freakin bunny.

IF(!) ANYONE is actually able to post a WORKING method, i'll be thankful and rep you.

arg im dieing to learn how to do this, cause i would like to change stuff like my ironbound/rusted proto and black/plagued proto to stuff like the pvp deadly and furious frostwyrms.

cause im more of a raider than i am a pvper, and as a death knight i would like a frostwyrm to run around on and still go 310% speed

wtb rusted proto to furious frostwyrm!

(btw im watching blizzcon and im jizzing in my pants)

Ok - the basis of mount swapping is renaming .m2 and .skin files - that's all that's involved. I could do this for you - tell me what mount you want and what you want it swapping with and i'll fix it up for you.
If you want to learn how to mount swap then imo you shouldn't search specifically for 'mount swapping'. All mount swapping is is model swapping (swapping the models of the mounts). It involves MWCS and WoWModelViewer, and it's actualy a very simple process. Basically, find the model you want, extract it to your desktop. Find the model you want to swap it with and do the same. Rename accordingly. Pack via MWCS <-- this is hardly a decent explanation, and i appreciate you will probs have no idea what i'm talking about - therefore, use the search facility to find a model swapping guide (there are loads, you jsut need to put in some effort), before you know it you'll know exactly how to do this Good luck

i have grasped a lot about how it works, and it makes sense to me, for the most part having a working program that allows me to actually do it is another story. now on the other hand i was unaware of wowmodelviewer and if it works in conjunction with MWCS that would explain while i was unable to view the models in 3d perspective. if that is the case than i will go grab that quickly.

right now im after the model swap, Rusted Proto-Drake to Furious Gladiator Frostwyrm, if i cant get it to work.

You don't need to enter any .MPQ files in order to view models via WoWModelViewer... If you're adamant, however, then perhaps you're using an earlier version? Or one that fails to correspond with the current version you're using (either that or the .MPQ file that you're trying to insert contains seperate files that WMV can't read, and is therefore closing down).

hmmm im currently using 5.08, it says there is a 5.09 only when downloaded the .zip file has nothing in it >_<

i downloaded the 5.08 from mmowned.
before i added the files to see if it would do anything i would receive and error stating it couldn't correctly access the local-xxxx.mpq files and the file window would be disabled till fixed.

im trying to find a 3rd party site for a download but im not finding any easy.

Ok, you'll need version 6.0.3 to work with WOTLK:
WoW WOTLK Model Viewer - Download here
    Download link is above.
Extract to your WoW directory = fun.
    Good luck

    installed the C++ redistribution package
I've never heard of this... just install the WMV and extract it into your wow directory, run wowmodelviewer and it will work... forget about this C++ redistribution package.

well the fatal error thing isnt liking me.
the C++ distribution package has to deal with the fact that WMV is programmed using C++ and the installation of a C++ visual viewer was needed so the computer show visual displays of C++ programming. it isn't needed if your computer already had it. and i do have the current C++ visual distribution package but i cant seem to find a work around the fatal error (generally its close to impossible to find a fix for the kinda error its giving me)
arg i want that darn frostwyrm >_<

(it was actually stated in the install.txt file that came with the download to do so if you were having problems.
