    Shaman Guide

    Alright, good day all. My name is Unholy[S]haman and i am an Enhancement Spec Raiding Shaman and thought i would share some of the information and experience that i have come across over the last few years.

    [NOTE] Alot of this information is very similar to the Elitist Jerks and i would like you to give them recognition to alot of this information.

    Back2Basics:

    Your options for shaman races are:
    Trolls

    Orcs

    Draenei

    ------TROLLS------
    Racial Traits:
    Beserking: Activated ability that increases attack and casting speed; increases effect when badly injured.
    Regeneration: Increase health regen bonus.
    Beast Slaying: 5% extra damage dealt when fighting beasts.
    Throwing Weapon Specialisation: +5 weapon skill for bows and thrown weapons.

    ------ORCS------
    Racial Traits:
    Bloody Fury: Activated ability that increases attack power.
    Hardiness: Increases resistance to stun and knockout effects.
    Command: +5% to pet damage output.
    Axe Specialisation: +5 bonus to Axe skill.

    ------Draenei------
    Racial Traits:
    Gemcutting: +5 bonus to jewelcrafting.
    Gift of the Naaru: Targeted heal-over-time ability.
    Inspiring/Heroic Presence: +1% chance to hit with spells or attacks.
    Shadow Resistance: +10 bonus to Shadow Resistance.

    ADDONS
    Now when it comes to shamans there are a few must have addons.
    To be honest, all that totemus and totemtimer junk is not worth it, it just slows down your FPS and system performance and also sometimes it can just get in the way and irrirate you. So I prefere addons that aren’t that visual and more just give me what I want when I want it.

    The PAWN ADDON
    (Pawn - Inventory/Item - World of Warcraft Mods, Addons, and More!)
    Is a great Addon since it evaluates your gear and gives it a rating according to what stats on it is needed by an enhancement shaman.:

    STATS PRIORITY
    Now, Just to clear some things I see a lot of people arguing about which stat gets priority on a shaman. Well, here is the order, if you have questions or queries why I chose them feel free to PM me:

    Entry Raid (T4) EP Values:

    Strength = 2 EP
    Crit Rating = 1.97 EP
    Agility = 1.74 EP
    Hit Rating = 1.34 EP
    Haste Rating = 1.28 EP
    Attack Power = 1 EP
    Armor Penetration = 0.22 EP

    Middle Raid (T5) EP Values

    Strength = 2 EP
    Crit Rating = 2 EP
    Agility = 1.8 EP
    Haste Rating = 1.48 EP
    Hit Rating = 1.4 EP
    Attack Power = 1 EP
    Armor Penetration = 0.28 EP

    SELF WEAPON ENCHANTS
    Flametongue Weapon: Flametongue weapon is designed to increase its dps the slower the weapon and it is often a nice choice for an offhand weapon buff.
    Flame tongue can be nice to use if your offhand is slower than the preffered 2.60 speed. It is also a very nice weapon enchant to have if you are elemental spec.

    Re: Shaman Guide

    Windfury:

    has has its fair share of nerfs throughout the patches. As of 2.1 Offhand WF and Mainhand WF now share the same 3 second cooldown. Meaning that After a WF proc on your MH or OH weapon you will be waiting at least 3 seconds till the next WF hit.

    Facts about Windfury Weapon Imbibing Spell:
    *Best weapon speed choice would be duel wielding 2 one-hand weapons both with the speed 2.60 or higher. This will give you the most damage output
    *A green level 70 item from the Auction House with a 2.60 speed will do, in most cases, more damage than a Epic Dagger with a speed of 1.60-1.90 When imbibed with Windfury.
    *Stormstrike:

    will often cause Windfury to proc if it is not on its cooldown

    Therefore, suggested fight rotation is:

    If farming or on a boss fight and wanting to conserve as much mana yet do decent damage then;
    Step1: Water Shield on
    Step2: Engage NPC with Auto Attack
    Step3: Flame Shock
    Step4: Only once Windfury has procced from the auto attack, count 3 seconds and then Stormstrike
    Step5: Earth Shock (Will receive the Stormstrike +NR damage buff)
    Then repeat Step 2 through 5 till NPC/objective is dead keeping up water shield when ever you can
    (I tend to pop up water shield preferably only when Stormstrike and my Shocks are both on cooldown.

    If you are unsure about how Winfdury,Stormstrike-ing and weapon speed itemization work then could might want to check out the Elitist Jerks forums for their Shaman 101 guide. How ever I found that a lot of the information in there was unnecessary.

    Ye I hope to have the part 3 up soon. Just frustrated with it dissappearing

    Guess I will have to start from scratch and double check info to make sure it is valid still etc.
    If any of you have any questions about shamans in the mean time, send me a PM with the question and as much description of what you would like to know as possible and i will get back to you

    Re: Shaman Guide

    Also, i'm not a shaman but iirc you also gain 2AP from one strength yes? Well if so strength > AP on your list because strength scales with BoK in raids

    Re: Shaman Guide

    Hit is only useful up to about 100 rating because we already have full HIT from just talents for 50% of our DPS. Crit scales with all of our dps, and point for point is better than hit.

    Also, since patch 2.3 a green 2.6 is not better than a malchazeen for example. While it used to be that way, now slowWF/slowWF is prefered, but slowWF/fastFT is almost as good.

    So while (ignoring it's impossible) Decapitator/Decapitator would be better, Depcapitator/Malchazeen would be almost as good.

    Re: Shaman Guide

    Also: Enhance Shaman: The Collected Works of Theorycraft, Vol I - Elitist Jerks

    This is everything you will need to know about enhancement shamans. Please put this in your main post.

    Stat Weights quoted from Article:

    Entry Raid (T4) EP Values
    If you have just hit level 70 or have been running some heroics for a while but have not started raiding KZ and 25 mans yet, your EP stat weights will be significantly different from shamans wearing high-end gear. Use these values until you have progressed into SSC/TK beyond the first 1-2 bosses. These values were arrived at using simulation of a shaman wearing best of slot quest and instance blues, with some heroic loot. Buffs were limited to what a 10 man raid would normally have - no Kings, no LotP, no flasks, and assumed lower quality gems and enchants.

    Attack Power = 1 EP
    Strength = 2 EP
    Agility = 1.74 EP
    Crit Rating = 1.97 EP
    Hit Rating = 1.34 EP (explanation below at VIII.4 Itemization - Hit Rating)
    Haste Rating = 1.28 EP (explanation below at VIII.3 Itemization - Haste Rating)
    Armor Penetration = 0.22 EP

    Middle Raid (T5) EP Values
    These values are a generally agreed-upon set produced by the average of the most reliable closed-form model and iterative simulations across the breadth of shaman gearing possibilities. They rapidly become less accurate as you accumulate more pieces of T5-level gear. As such, using Yo's simulator to obtain individualized EP numbers is strongly advised. Note that Blessing of Kings increases the contribution of Strength and Agility by 10% and thus their EPs when it is active.

    Attack Power = 1 EP
    Strength = 2 EP (2.2 EP with Blessing of Kings)
    Agility = 1.8 EP (2 EP with Blessing of Kings)
    Crit Rating = 2 EP
    Hit Rating = 1.4 EP (explanation below at VIII.4 Itemization - Hit Rating)
    Haste Rating = 1.48 EP (explanation below at VIII.3 Itemization - Haste Rating)
    Armor Penetration = 0.28 EP
