So you've always had the problem of trying to get into a good guild such as one in hyjal/bt and you only have tier 4 equivalent gear. You'll soon find out that skill and dedication is more valued by hardcore guilds.
----
Step 1: Talking with Members
Start by talking to guild members of your own class that are already in the guild. You have to understand that fitting in with a guild is a lot harder than you think. Understand that hardcore guilds begin to use irl names to address each other and they begin to treat each other more like a team/family.
The members of your class that are curently in the guild will only think, "The new guy is going to be more competition as far as dkp." That is very true, but begin by running groups with members of the guild, helping people of your very class do their dailies etc. Go out of your way to get in good with them.
This doesnt mean trying to kiss a** to the officers. This will be the exact opposite of what your trying to do.
----
Step 2: Applying to the Guild
Examples in Red
This is probably the most vital process to joining the guild. Your application must look mature, must prove your skilled as a player, and you have to prove that even with your current gear situation you may not be as geared but you will focus 100% to getting yourself just as geared as them and you will work harder than any other members of that class.
Example:
Name: John Smith
Age: 22
Read the Guild FAQ: Of course
Attunement Keys: Vital Information
Although you may not have hyjal attunement or black temple attunement you must tell them why you are worth the time and effort killing vashj and kael'thas. Most guilds don't farm kael'thas this is why they often don't focus time getting new people hyjal attuned.
If you haven't already started your Black Temple attunement chain such as going to arcatraz etc. Get it atleast to the part where you need the kill karathress (when you start needing to be in a 25 man raid) that way you can show that you are working to get yourself attuned.
I will state this again your goal in this area is to prove that you are spending time to get yourself as far as you can in attunement. Make sure you pick up the hyjal attunement quest in caverns of time.
Previous Raiding Experience:
Although I have only raided a little in serpent shrine cavern I used to be raid leader for all the bosses up to (last boss you have done in ssc).
Saying that you were a raid leader will show them that you are a fast learner and understand boss fights just from reading strategies and can execute them in the right setting. They will never ask you to be a raid leader, but this will show them that you have leadership qualities and you will seem more unique among the other applicants. Let them know that you have no problem watching videos and reading strategies so that you don't screw up on a boss fight and making them waste valuable raiding time.
What Do You Have To Offer The Guild:
The real question is, "What Don't I have to offer the guild." I know that I can offer my time to every raid, my understanding of why I may have to sit out from time to time, and my dedication to improving myself as a player whilst helping the guild improve as a whole.
This is extremely important. Showing the guild that you want to improve yourself and that you are dedicated all your time and effort to making your character the best he can be. This will make a lot of raid leaders and guild officers approve of your application. Not many people understand that guilds will take people that don't mind being sat out. If you don't specify that guilds may not take you because no one wants an emo kid in their guild.
What do you expect from the guild?
I expect the guild to help me improve my skill as playing my class. I expect that if I am doing something wrong someone will correct me and help better my playing skills. Although I try to do the very best I can at all times, sometimes I don't notice things I may do wrong. I have never had a problem in the past with following strategies and directions, but as far as someone from my class helping me play my class better that is what I expect. I also expect to have a good time playing a video game with people who share common interests and goals. I also expect to be involved in a team of people who have a goal. Those who play their classes to their very best and will succeed when faced with a challenging obstacle.
Raid leaders really want people to improve as a whole. Working together as a team not just a guild of people. Again your letting them know you seek any opportunity to improve yourself as a player. Also letting them know that you understand this is a video game and you play it for fun not for a job.
Current Guild and reason for leaving current guild?
Current Guild: <bla bla>
The reason I am leaving this guild isn't because of the people or me not getting enough raiding time. The problem with this guild is the fact they aren't working together as a team and expressing a common goal of reaching endgame PvE Content. They are currently just farming the bosses they can and leaving themselves there without putting in time and effort to down new bosses and progress faster. I want to me in a more hardcore progression setting and I don't feel that in this guild I will not succeed in reaching my goals of endgame content. Other than that the guild is a great guild of people who are for the most part great players. If only they shared common interests and goals such as yourselves.
One thing that turns guild leaders off about a new recruit is the fact they may have problems with members in their current guild or maybe they're complaining about not enough playing time. They will talk to members in your guild if they are serious enough about giving good feedback about you as a player. If you have problems with your current guild I recommend you try to repair any problems you had with members BEFORE you apply to the guild.
Can you be on time to raids and come prepared with full consumables?
Of course, I usually bring over and above the required consumables for my class allowing me to pass them out as needed. I understand some classes may have a hard time farming and I know that sometimes getting all your consumables for each raid can be time consuming. This allows me to better the raid as a whole and help us reach our common goals faster and smoother.
Let them know you don't mind helping out and you will have no problem meeting their requirements.
What spec are you currently? Are you willing to respec to meet the needs of the guild if needed?
I do not mind respecing to a spec that will help better the raid group one bit. Like I've stated many time before my goal is to reach endgame content, what spec and what gear I have does not matter. I would do anything be the most viable I could be for the guild in a raid setting.
Let them know it doesn't matter how you reach endgame content. You just WANT to.
Any Other Comments?
I understand my gear may not be as good as your current raiders, however, I can promise to attend every raid and improve my gear as fast as possible. I know that I can prove myself to the guild and can be the best choice for a new guild <class here>. Skill and dedication will prove to be the victor in a hardcore raid setting. I can guarantee that it won't be a mistake recruiting me into the guild.
Self explanatory. Its basically your summary of everything you have previously stated.
----
Step 3: Fitting in with the guild
You've made your way into get a /ginvite now its your time to prove yourself to the guild. If any alts needs help getting geared volunteer your time to helping them in anything they need to be helped with. You must show that you are here for the better of the guild not just for yourself. Try getting yourself onto an arena team to make friends with some of the members in the guild. Fitting in with a guild thats been together so long to clear BT/Hyjal is a lot of work you have to understand that they were just as well off without you, however, you need to prove that you were a great addition to the guild.
Never complain no matter what. Even if you don't agree with how a raid leader is doing his job. Your just a new recruit, getting on anyone's bad side will make your chances of staying in the guild very slim.
Always remember that your just the new recruit and your not any better than any of the players. Make sure to always ask for comments on how your playing to members of your own class.
--------------
Remember everyone is just a human just because they have better gear than you doesn't mean they're any better than you. Don't try kissing up to people because that will only make people get annoyed by you. You have to show that you just want to have a good time playing a game with them.
PM me if you have any questions or if I didn't cover a part of an application that you need help with. I'd be glad to help you fill out any other areas of a guild application that I haven't covered.

Statements from Endgame Guild Masters:
"We don't tolerate children. Before you open your mouth, think about what you're about to say and how it will effect your future in any guild. Being calm is something that needs to be practiced by all members. Losing it in game only needs to reckless, careless mistakes that can cost the entire Guild a victory, not just your own. Appease your pride through teamwork, not solo macho nonsense."
