Scorpid Sting is an AMAZING utility as is Misdirection, Freezing Trap, and Feign Death. If you are playing the hunter class, and are seriously oblivious to the fact that raids are a group effort to the degree where you DON'T believe +5% chance to avoid attacks on your main tank ISN'T worth the mana it costs the hunter vs the mana it will save your healers, please immediately:
Deactivate your account
Uninstall WoW
Destroy your computer
Smack your mother across the mouth
Commit Suicide
Continuing... serpent sting is a waste of mana in PvE except in cases where bosses take alot more magic damage then physical (Magtheridon while banished IIRC). Viper sting has limited PvE uses, but infinate PvP uses.
BM Hunters should have imp aspect of the hawk, and thus be running it constantly... steady shot auto shot isn't a bad rotation if your mana regen is shit. But if your guild has discovered "paladins" (note the plural... might + wisdom) feel free and use arcane shot or multi shot which are both amazing additions damage-wise to a hunter's rotation.
If you are still BM spec then you are PROBABLY too undergeared to BE survival spec, and thus know less about how a hunter works then the survival specced hunters. If you are BT geared and BM, you had better have the top 2v2 team in your battlegroup... if not, please revert to the actions to be performed by those who don't believe scorpid sting is worth using.
Hunters specialize in utility and "safe" damage. Feign death and pets are amazing tools to deal more damage then is possible by anyone else on the raid without pulling aggro. This is especially useful for guilds who either have shitty main tanks, are training new main tanks, shitty offtanks (for trash usually...) or just shitty tanks in general.
In conclusion, if you aren't playing the hunter class to its maximum possible quality, and are still topping damage meters... SURPRISE! Your guild sucks ass because your tank is shit and you top those meters because of the things listed in the paragraph above. People like shishaw understand the class and you should probably sign up for lessons... that way you will be able to get into a guild where you DON'T top the meter (I.E. one worth being in).
Hope this post helped, and if it didn't, go roll a goddamn paladin you ****ing carebear.
Some pretty harsh statements
, but sounds right to me. If you don't agree, I used to be the same way. I was stuck in my old ways if the Pre-BC hunter when things were much different; Mark was the ONLY way to go for raid DPS and BM was the ONLY way to go for PvP. Things have changed now, and to be a good Post-BC hunter and not the dreaded "huntard," there are some things you must learn.
