The time spent travelling in the upwards direction, is time you loose. When you fly really high, you loose a lot of time. When you jump down, you gain some time.
Time spent travelling = Time you spend flying up, minus the time you gain by free flying in the air. the gain from doing this trick, however, has been negative in most cases I have tried this myself. In other words, OP thinks he is getting there faster because he gets some free fall time that appears to be really quick, but havent bothered actually timing it with a stopwatch, to realize its a failing trick.
Of course, there is 1 exception, and that's when you are flying down. ofc it would be quicker to un-form, and free fall down.
But in the end, the trick OP is advertising is quicker travel through unForming when in high altitude, and this, does not really work.
