Get a low level to Dalaran for free.

Hello, here is a guide that will show you how to get to Dalaran for free without the use of Warlock summons, Mage portals or the BG porting trick. It isn't instant and it requires about 10 minutes of your time.

For the purpose of this guide I have started on a new server and I have next to no money to befriend a friendly mage for the portal to Dalaran and also I do not know anyone. This guide has been simplified and it is not my intention to belittle or patronize experienced players.

    -----------------------------------------------

Step 1: If you're not starting a new character then skip this step. If however you are then I'd suggest you kill yourself at the starting area as your movement speed increases when you are dead and so it makes the journey a bit quicker.

Step 2: Now travel to the zeppelin that will take you to Borean Tundra. For Horde it is on the tower at North West Durotar (to the left of the entrance of Orgrimmar) and it'll be the zeppelin with the lights on the front. For Alliance it is the farthest dock away from the Harbor entrance in Stormwind.

Step 3: Now you're in Borean Tundra the next place you want to go to is Scholazar Basin. The route on the screenshot isn't exact it's just a reference to where you need to run to.

Step 4a: Now you're in Scholazar Basin, run east to The Avalanche.

Step 4b: When you reach The Avalanche, run up the mountain from left to right as there is a snowy path to the top.

Step 5: As soon as you hit Icecrown you'll get get transformed onto a flying mount. Now head South East close to the Lake in the screenshot and you'll be close to Dalaran.

Step 6: As you reach the tip of Icecrown and travel east into Crystalsong Forest, you should see the silhouette of Dalaran city. Fly up high above Dalaran as when you reach there you will be dismounted from your flying mount and land somewhere in Dalaran. If you're not high enough and land on the outskirts of the city, simply run to the edge and jump off. You will be instantly placed onto a flying mount so there's no need to worry about falling, and so this time you can fly higher and aim to land inside the city.

Step 7: Now that you're in Dalaran, run to the spirit healer on the grass between the Violet Citadel and the Magus Commerce Exchange. However DO NOT resurrect just yet.

Step 8: This is the most important part, what you need to do now is logout of your character and log back in. When you log back in speak to the spirit healer and resurrect yourself.

Step 9: Congratulations, now you're in Dalaran for free. Feel free to set your hearth at the places circled in the screenshot in step 7. For Horde it is in the Sunreavers Sanctuary, and for Alliance it is in The Silver Enclave.

Hope you have enjoyed this guide.

Well written guide. Although it would be quicker to get a port or summon (even for free) it's always nice to know that not all hope is lost =)

Nice effort in making this guide, didn't know about that.
I always use the mass whisper to mage to get a free portal there is always a good soul around you.
    Anyway this might help others.
    +rep to you mate.

Would be userful w/o mages/locks anyway its not free as long as you kill yourself and have armor items in ur inventory or equipped (also the resurrection sickness!). I prefer you to put your whole gear in to the bank before you do this

The trick is to logout before you talk to the Spirit Healer, as this will 'reset' the area in which you resurrect. If I didn't put to logout in the guide then you will end up in the area where you died originally.

Please note that the 1st step said to die if you are starting a new character. Thus meaning you wouldn't have to pay for repairs and also you do not get resurrection sickness under level 10.

Cool I guess, I just feel like this is way more trouble than its worth. On a new server I'll typically sign a guild charter or 3 for 5g+ a pop and then ask some mage for a portal. It works much faster, and you get some gold out of it as well =)
