How to get the core hound pup without having an cellphone or buying one

I did exactly what was listed there, I had removed the authenticator, then took out the pup and had it for a hour or two. And then after I logged on again it was gone. So I guess it checks it after a while again. I have a BlackBerry phone but the app says I don't have reception in my area... sucky

So can I use the authentifiactor forever? Can Blizzard block that emulator and its, dunno, engine or routine? I don't want to lose my account even if i NOT do format c or anything like that.

I believe Blizzard is interested in making everyone use authenticators, in order to ease the burden on their support and billing departments caused by hacked accounts. So, I would not count on them going after "pirated" authenticator users.

If you can access your mobile's or emulator's java storage, you should be able to backup your authenticator's data, so you are not screwed if you lose your phone/reformat your computer; mine is already running on three devices. Using the official Sun development kit for Linux (J2ME WTK) you can just back the j2mewtk folder on your user folder; location for other emulators/mobile phones will of course be different.

BTW, the java app on the first page should be usable on any java compatible mobile, if you can put on it applications that are not approved by your carrier. And for anyone that wants to download the authenticator directly from Blizzard, or wants instructions on how to run it on Android or Windows Mobile phones, you can try the following page:

And that "DAuth.exe" desktop authenticator seems to be just the same mobile java authenticator bundled with something called MicroEmulator. Which means it needs Java installed. I could not get it to run on my computer, it seems to be failing to unpack the files, but using Microemulator directly is easy enough.

yes, you can use it forever, but be aware that if you lose your desktop authenticator by any form, you will not be able to log on

you can backup your data, it's on a folder called .microemulator, the file is called TokenRecord.rs

but again, it's risky, but you CAN keep the authenticator to keep the pet forever

Are you positive that TokenRecord.rs is the correct file? I just want to make sure

It should be. If in doubt, open it in a hex editor. If you see your authenticator serial in there (as well as a 40-digit hex number in plaintext) it is the right file.

i found the core hound pup to be the best pet ever but it was too much of a hassle to re enter a authorization code everytime especially when i get d/c alot. too time consuming.
