    [Guide] Steamwheedle Cartel Reputation Raising

    Hello MMOwned,
This shall be my first written guide. As you guessed, in this guide I’ll try to tell you how to raise your Steamwheedle Cartel reputation in the fastest way possible.
I am sorry for the grammatical errors or any mistakes I’ve made. If you would like me to add anything or if you feel like something’s missing or should be changed, please feel free to post. Flames and CC appreciated.

I got my Bloodsail Admiral title and I’m hated with whole of Steamwheedle. They’re an important part of traveling in WoW and their Auction Houses are important too.

This guide is written using mostly my knowledge, with corrected information from the internetz.

    Ways to raise your reputation:

    1. Repeatable quests: Free Knot! + The Gordok Ogre Suit - Quest - World of Warcraft (optional)

Alright, so. Remember the old instance Dire Maul? Okay, so it is located in Feralas. It has 3 wings: north, east and west. We’re interested in the north wing. Here’s the map of it:

The red “path” is the one I used to use. You must kill guards and as many ogres as you can on the way. Guards have an increased drop rate of the key.
The red dot resembles Knot Thimblejack, the one who gives the quests.

Alrighty, now. The point of this step is to get the Gordok Shackle Key - Item - World of Warcraft

Now maybe you’re thinking “oh, well that’ll be easy. It’s a low level instance after all”. Yes, that indeed is true, but there are some flaws about this:

Flaw a: the key doesn’t drop always. It has an increased drop rate from the guards.
Flaw b: it’s unique, meaning you can’t have more than 1 at a time with you.

This step ain’t exactly the best to get rep with Steamwheedle for few reasons:

-you can only do 5 instances an hour. And if you grind DMN (Dire Maul North), you shouldn’t expect the key to drop all the time. You might end up with nothing.

When you turn in the quest, Knot leaves you his chest of leatherworking/tailoring supplies. Be sure to loot it, as it can contain an epic level 60 recipe for leatherworking/tailoring. It can also contain Ogre Tannin (read below)

OPTIONAL PART (The Gordok Ogre Suit)

The goblin Knot Thimblejack (the one mentioned above) also gives an optional quest (also mentioned above).
For the quest, you need to turn in:
    -4x bolt of runecloth
    -8x rugged leather
    -2x rune thread
    -1x ogre tannin

Now, the Ogre Tannin is a BoP item which drops in the same instance. You can get it from Ogre Tannin Basket, which is in the room where Knot resides (#4), but upstairs or from Knot Thimblejack’s Cache, the one which Knot leaves for you after you turn in the quest Free Knot!

That’s the 1st way of raising your reputation with Steamwheedle Cartel. I wouldn’t recommend using it myself, few reasons why are stated above. You will have to do these 2 quests from 11999/12000 honored, up to exalted.

    2. 2 repeatable quests in western Feralas:
Again With the Zapped Giants - Quest - World of Warcraft and Again With the Zapped Giants - Quest - World of Warcraft

    Coordinates: 44, 43

Now, if anyone has done these quests to raise their rep – I don’t understand these people. These 2 quests kinda take some time and only give 25 reputation points with whole of Steamwheedle.

Somewhat useless, but if you don't want to raise your rep in any other ways, do these 2 quests.

    3. Turning in cloth.

Traitor to the Bloodsail - Quest - World of Warcraft

Alright-y, so this mob (Bloodsail Traitor) resides in Stranglethorn Vale (coordinates 31.8, 70.

He gives a quest to turn in 40x silk cloth and 4x red dye. In return, he will give you 500 reputation with Booty Bay, 250 reputation with the other 3 towns and -500 reputation with the Bloodsail Buccaneers. If you want to stay friendly/honored or at whatever reputation you are with Bloodsail Buccaneers, I don’t recommend doing this quest.

Now, as you can see, our fellow Bloodsail Traitor is in Stranglethorn Vale, and so is Booty Bay. For that reason, he gives 2x reputation than with other towns. But no worries: Everlook, Ratchet and Gadgetzan have their own similar quests which require cloth to turn in, along with other stuff.

    Ratchet

Mending Old Wounds - Quest - World of Warcraft

Mupsi Shacklefridd, located at 61.2, 37.9 in The Barrens. This repeatable quest requires you to turn in 40x linen cloth and 4x empty vials. Like I said above, if the town and quest giver is in the same zone, the quest gives 2x reputation with the town which is in the same zone as the quest giver. So, this quest will give 500 reputation with Ratchet, 250 reputation with other Steamwheedle Cartel towns and -500 reputation with Bloodsail Buccaneers.

    Everlook

Making Amends - Quest - World of Warcraft

Bronn Fitzwrench, located at 59.8, 39.7 in Winterspring. The quest requires you to turn in 40x runecloth and 4x coal. I think you understood how much reputation it will give.

    Gadgetzan

War at Sea - Quest - World of Warcraft

Rumsen Fizzlebrack is the quest giver. He is located at 50.4, 26.2 in Tanaris. The quest he gives requires you to turn in 40x mageweave cloth and 4x strong flux.

    4. Killing pirates

Alright, so this may be the fastest way to raise your reputation with Steamwheedle Cartel. This method will not lower your reputation with Bloodsail Buccaneers. Mobs give reputation same way like the quests mentioned above in step 3. Mobs in same zone with the town – more reputation for that town. Alrighty:

So killing pirates is the fastest way to raise your reputation (that’s just my opinion). As level 70-80, you can kill them with 1 blow, + you get loot.

    Gadgetzan, Tanaris

Now, on the east side of Tanaris there is a place called Lost Rigger Cove. It’s kinda like a pirate hangout place, where they build ships. It’s also a place where lowbies do quests. Anyways, there are lots of pirates there with a good respawn rate. Some of ‘em are scattered, but mostly they’re near to eachother and can be easily AoE’d down.
1 pirate – 5 reputation with Gadgetzan, 2.5 with rest of goblin cities. Named mobs will give 25 and 12.5 reputation, in this case it’s a mob called Andre Firebeard. He’s also for a WANTED quest.

Now, to do the calculations: if you’re sitting at 0/36000 hated reputation with Gadgetzan, you’re gonna have to kill roughly about:

    0/36000 hated – 7200 pirates.
    0/3000 hostile – 600 pirates
    0/3000 unfriendly – 600 pirates
    0/3000 neutral – 600 pirates
    0/6000 friendly – 1200 pirates
    0/12000 honored – 2400 pirates.

After you get 11999/12000 honored, you’re gonna have to go Dire Maul North, as it’s the only way of getting past revered and up to exalted with Steamwheedle. Step 3 only gives reputation till neutral.

    Other pirate locations:

    The Barrens, Ratchet

If you want to raise rep more with Ratchet, you should go along the coast south of Ratchet and north of Northwatch Hold.

    Stranglethorn Vale, Booty Bay

    Venture Co.

These mobs can be found west of Zul’Gurub, east side of Lake Nazfereti.

Everlook doesn’t seem to have a similar way to this.

    Grizzly Hills

    Venture Co. Evacuees

So these mobs are found in Venture Bay. They’re related to the mobs in STV (Stranglethorn Vale), so they give 5 reputation with Booty Bay and 2,5 reputation with other towns. The only difference is that they take longer to kill (they’re in Northrend after all) and they drop Northrend loot, such as Frostweave Cloth and what not.

I hope you enjoyed this. As I said at the start, I am sorry for the grammatical errors or any mistakes I’ve made. If you would like me to add anything or if you feel like something’s missing or should be changed, please feel free to post. Flames and CC appreciated.

UPDATE: patch 3.0.8 - you now gain full rep all the way to Exalted regardless of your level. This means you can grind pirates till you're exalted.

I would recommend the dire maul part if I were you as otherwise this won't help you with the insane achievement as you need to be honored with the bloodsail while being exalted with all factions of steamwheedle. The only way to do this is getting bloodsail up and then run dire maul for the steamwheedle rep. You may not do anything else as there is nothing but dire maul that will not decrease your bloodsail rep. At least nothing that is rudimentary efficient.

Martin240 you are wrong. Killing pirates will increase your reputation up to 11999/12000 honored without decreasing your Bloodsail Buccaneers reputation. After that you have to go Dire Maul North. I wrote that in step 4

I meant this, you can kill pirates and your Bloodsail rep won't decrease.

nice guide, but on the talk of insane in the membrane i found that going to southern ratchet and killing the pirates till 1 point from revered then going to dm getting exalted with ratchet then back to southern ratchet again proved to be better in terms of getting just the rep up. This is how i did it anyways, though doing dm entirely gives you chances at librams. I will say that i tried the pirates in tanaris and it was horrible for me as a rogue anyways, distance was to far to effectively grind rep and if there are any low lvls it makes it a pain.

Well if you want to raise Ratchet rep mainly, then yes, kill pirates south of Ratchet
