    Moofman's Guild Making Guide

    Welcome!

    In this guide, you will learn how to make a guild, name it, recruit members for it, and how to run it!

    Step One: Making a Guild
    First off, you need to make your guild. It's quite simple, really. Simply travel to any major city of your own faction and go to the 'Visitor's Center'.

    This is probably the hardest part.
    Finding this 'Visitor's Center'.
    No problem!
    I will give directions for how to get there for both Horde and Alliance.
    Alliance:
    Code:
    Ironforge:
    Enter Ironforge through the main gates. Take a right, Then another right. Look up, because on your IMMEDIATE right side, there is a sign with a star on it. Go up the staircase and boom, you're in.

    Stormwind:
    Enter Stormwind through the main gates. On your IMMEDIATE left, there is a recessed building entrance. Look for the sign with a star on it. Once you find that, you're in.
    Horde:
    Code:
    Orgrimmar:
    Enter Orgrimmar through the main gates. At about a 45' angle to your LEFT, there is a path leading north-west. Keep going past the General Store, and look to your left. Again, find the sign with the star. (Since it is rather difficult to find, if you know where the PvP area is, just go south down that path and you will find it.)

    Undercity:
    Becuase of Undercity's symmetrical layout, it can be difficult to gather you're bearings. I'll try the best I can.

    Start by going to the bank in Undercity. On one of the two paths leading DOWN, (Not going up to the upper level's, where the mailbox and flight master are) there should be a Guild Master just standing there. If all you see are cooking trainers, you picked the wrong path. Merely turn around and go straight and you're there.
    Naming Your Guild
    Ok, great! Guild Master found. Now what? Well, first you're gonna have to buy the charter, and more importantly, name it. [The guild].

    Pause for a second.

    The name of you're guild is vital. Without a (good) name you're just another stupid guild. That no one likes. And everyone hates. And is made fun of on forums. And other guilds will make fun of you.
    And then before you know it, the anti-depressant section is you're new favorite destination.

    Examples of BAD names:
    <she looked lvl 18>
    <lol>
    <shadow killers>
    <crusaders of the night>
    <deathknights of arthas>
    <the dark crusaders>
    <illidans army>

    Now, WHY are all those things bad?
    ANYTHING THAT HAS THESE IN THE GUILD NAME ARE RETARDED.
    Unless its funny.

    -Ninja -Shadow -Killer- Crusade[r][s] - Dark -Illidan -Arthas -Deathknight -Evil -Good -Uther -Silver Hand -Irrelevant sentences (I.e- <we eat pie>)
    -Death -alliance -horde -noob -pro

    There are scores more. But the point being is that those SUCK, are OVERUSED, and have NO IMAGINATION.

    However, if you make a guild like...say... <Ninja Shadow Dark killers of the Crusade>

    That would be funny/witty/(still dumb).
    But if you're serious about it, then pass up those words.
    I personally prefer shorter guild names, and more 'Mystical'.

    So you want to find a name that relates to your guild, but you don't want to get sick of it in a few days/weeks. It has to be like you're character name.

    So, what kinds of guilds are there? Can't name it without a theme, right?

    Raiding

    Raiding is a popular one, because its so simple to do. And, necessary. (Duh)
    Raiding guilds can be almost anything, but the name is a bit serious. It portrays meaning, but then again, its just a name to them. So, things like
    <Overrated> instead of say, <Gnome Hunters>.

    PvP
    The most common guild type. These guilds have funny (Often witty) names that make you laugh, until they kill you, of course.
    <Tender and Perky> (All Tauren Guild>>>) <Lactose Intolerant>

    Community
    These guilds are very common but no one advertises them as "Community". Basically, if you're guild has 10+ people on and they are talking about something for longer than half a hour, its a community. People talk. Chat. It's fun. Names can be anything, from serious to witty to just plain dumb. My favorite kind of guild.

    Roleplay
    These guilds are a bit more rare (Overall) and possess very macho, mysterious names. Or, they can be melodramatic and interesting at the same time. For instance, <The Cobalt Crusade> <Seahorse Sailors>
    Or the typical <Guidance of Elune> <Horde Royal Guard> etc etc

    You're probably thinking, WTF, GET TO THE POINT.

    Right?
    Well all this will help you. Trust me.

    Here's some hints on naming you're guild.

    ->Shorter names are best. (Unless its specific). <Faith> <Rebel> <Fatality>
    Things like that.
    -> Simplicity. Unless you're guild calls for something complicated, keep your guild simple. IT makes life easier.
    ->Do YOU like it? While <Murloc hunters with Pie> might sound funny at 2 a:m, then the guild grows, you will regret that. Make sure you don't, because then the guild becomes a chore, not something to look forward to.
    ->First Instinct. Generally you're first choice is one you will be most happy with.
    ->Acronyms. Never use em. People will ask, "Whats that mean?" Over. And over. And over. And over. To the point where you will make macro's.
    ->Use nice spelling. <we are beast> doesn't look good compared to <We are Beast>
    ->Nothing Foreign. IT puts people off. Sorry :x
    ->No sexuality or racist names. You can get called out for doing that, big time.
    -> BE UNIQUE

    Recruiting

    So you have your name. Now you need members.

    If you don't really care about quality, just run to the nearest starting zone and whisper everyone under level 10. Offer 1 gold. Or something minuscule.

    If you do (And you should), make a well thought out macro to advertise with!

    I'll try to think of a template for you.
    Everything in [brackets] is something you should add/change.

    [<Guild>] is now recruiting [Verb- ex. Active], [Adjective- ex. Dedicated] members who are looking for a(n)[Serious/playful] guild that focus' on [raiding/pvp/roleplay/community]. We have/Will have a Tabard, 2 Guild tabs.(If its roleplaying, throw in 'And a HQ'). Please whisper for more details/invite. [Horde/Alliance].

    Some tips about macro's:
    -> Make it unique
    -> NO SPAMMING FFS.
    -> Only use it in Guild Recruitment channels. Only people who are not in a guild will see them.

    CONGRATULATIONS. Now that you have you're guild, what about the stuff inside?

    Other Stuff

    RANKS:
    This is common. Ranks are hard to do, because it must be something that,
    -Relates to the guild
    -Gets 'better and better'
    -Doesn't sound dumb

    So. If you're guild is <The Holy Light>
    than you can have it like...

    -Guild master
    -Rank 5> The Light
    -Rank 4> Flash of light
    -Rank 3> Beam of light
    -Rank 2> Flicker of light
    -Rank 1> Spark of Light

    Guild Message of the Day:
    You don't have a lot of room, so use it well.
    Examples: Kara raid, sat 9pm servertime, gratz greg on 21st b-day, ZA raid mon.

    BAD: lol invtez pplz for bug guiuld

    Guild Info:
    Again, you have limited space (Its the same space you have for making a macro, 255 characters. Spaces count!)

    Include the MOST IMPORTANT rules (Things you can be demoted/kicked for)
    Raiding times
    Other times
    etc

    POWERS YOU GIVE TO PEOPLE.
    Going into the guild management tab (Where you can change what rank has what power) is extremely important.

    Generally, I set it up so that new members can merely talk, rank 1 can change their notes and deposit into the bank, rank 2 can withdraw 5 gold, rank 3 1 item, 10 gold, etc.

    Make em work for it.

    TIP: You can give members the choice to TALK in Officers chat, but not LISTEN to it.
    Officer chat is another chat channel for your guild, do /o to talk in it.
    Its for the higher-up people, to talk behind people's backs. :]

    Now, if someone is causing ruckus in the guild, (See below) a concerned member can type in /o Member 1 is being a b$%@!, can you demote him for this and this reasons. Its sorta like submitting a GM ticket!

    ---GUILD CHAT---
    Member1]: F#$% YOU. YOU ALWAYS SCREW UP ON THE BOSS U NOOB
    Member2]: NOU
    Member3]:[Officer Chat]: Member1 is causing a ruckus in the ZA raid, check it out, ok?
    Officer1]: [Officer Chat]: Ok, someone go check it out.

    He won't be able to see what the officers said, but he sent the message.

    It's like delivering a note without asking for a reply.

    And what this does is allow normal members to submit a request to the officers, and this request is private and the officers can do what they deem is fit.

    Thats all for my guild guide maybe I'll add more later..

    It helps the newbies who is actually writing bad, bad, bad and horribly bad guild names.
    Each time I see such a guild name, I die inside, everytime.

    +rep for the effort lad.

    Your piece on guild names is nice. I hate seeing truly gay guild names. <Lords of Azeroth> <Knights of (something or other)> It usually denotes that the GM is a teen or pre teen who thought the name sounded badass. If you notice, most of the top guilds on each server are simple and to the point. <Juggernaut>, <Nihilum>, <Edge> whatever.

    I saw the funniest guild name ever. You have to be Scandinavian to understand it proper tho. it was "Man Ska Vara Seriƶs" It means "You Must/have to be Be Serious!" I think its fun because it seems like you've just gathered a hell lot of retards and then trying to teach them to be serious and raid proper. HAHAH
