Thanks for telling me this, i was actually wondering how it worked
When I logged merged a wow eu account with my bnet account and checked contact details the name had changed to my bnet name but I also tried transferring my characters to my main other merged account (which had a different name originally) without any luck so Blizzard know the name originally associated with the wow account and therefore didn't let me transfer between the two merged accounts. It is odd since I can't find the original owner's account name anywhere on the account management pages but I believe they have the name masked somewhere.
I got an account with the guy's first and last name as the account name.
olo random post
sorry if my post was misleading but I was trying to transfer a character to one of the WoW accounts to another WoW account which were both on the same battle net account. I know that I can't do any transfers between different battle net accounts until 30days pass but I was trying to do a transfer within a single battle net account and it still wouldn't let me.
You can't do any transfers for 30 days period afaik.
are you sure? from the blizzard support page it says:
An additional temporary restriction becomes effective immediately upon a World of Warcraft account merge. For 30 days, the account can only transfer characters to other accounts within the same Battle.net account – it cannot transfer characters off of the Battle.net account. Thus, in this example:
* World of Warcraft Account A and World of Warcraft Account B have both been merged with Battle.net Account 1 for less than 30 days
World of Warcraft Account A can transfer to World of Warcraft Account B since they share the same Battle.net account.
It says that provided they are on the same battle net account a transfer is available. This is what I had in my case but the transfer didn't go ahead leading me to believe it is the different surnames causing the problem even though the account management pages make it seem as though your name had been changed.
A quick update - I tried the transfer process out again and it got to the payment stage at which point I stopped so it might work even though the FAQ says they need to share the same last name.
Perhaps they have permanently changed the account holder's name - just seems a little unlikely for me because then I could just merge someones account with just their account name + pw and then itd change the account name to my name.
It worked for me, I could transfer right away.
Ah ok I think I can as well but not going to bother dishing out the money for a transfer atm.
Does anyone know whether a ban on one of the battle net accounts means all wow accounts on the same battle net account will receive a ban? I want to make sure my transferred characters are safe by transferring them onto a new wow account on the battle net account but if I end up banning the old account and consequently ban the new account it would be pointless.
If I buy a new account, wow, tbc and wotlk etc, and reg it with my name etc, and I have a merged wow bnet account with another name, can i transer it to my new wow account (not a bnet acc). is this possible?
Thanks for the intel guys
