You can't buy out auctions on your own account to prevent people back in the day from just putting their items up in the AH on their alts and buying em out quick on their mains to bypass the 1 hour mail wait. They could put an item up from one faction on their account, but wouldn't be able to buy it on their own faction from a different character, because its on the same account.

You need 2 accounts to do this, period, whether pve or pvp.

Thus proving you didn't even make any gold doing this, since you said you logged on an alt and sold the vortex's to the opposite faction. It's bad when you have to make up a story and lie to get some quick rep. Pathetic.

What if you had a trusted buddy to help you out? a guildy or something? (lol Guildmasters'll do anything for 100g in the guild bank now-a-days :P)

Ok, im on a pvp server, and would have access to another account... but the problem i see with this is:

1. Youd need to have money ON your second account on the opposite faction, which takes playtime, and continuous farming to be able to buy the items on the opposite side.

2. Even if you were able to do that whats the point of having gold on the opposite faction of ur main?

I think he means, you go spam the trade channel /2 WTB nether vortex (or whatever) then when a person asks you how many and stuff.. you tell him and then you ask if you could do it from an alliance to horde trade using the neutral auction house.

It's really not rocket science.

Alliance main, alliance vortex price 195g.
Horde trading alt, horde vortex price 380g.
(if your alliance main is on a PvP server this Horde trading character needs to be on a different account, simply because you can't have characters of opposing factions on the same PvP server)

Now what you want to do is buy those vortexes on your alliance character.
You log over to your horde trader, and advertise cheaper vortexes (300g).
When people say they'll buy them, you put them on the neutral auction house with your alliance character, and tell the hordies to buy them there.

Using the prices described, you make about 100g profit per vortex, minus the (huge) AH fee.

You are not trying to buyout your own auctions, you're telling people from a different faction to buy out your auctions.

It's nice if you can find items that have this big of a price difference, but people have to be wanting to travel to a neutral AH, which may not always be the case.
