[Guide] How to be a Paladin tank.

First of all you will need PALADIN Tanking gear not Warrior tanking gear.
So you will need some +Spell damage on it so you know it is palacapable (Good for paladins)
Why is spelldamage good for paladin tanks?
If you make more damage, you cause more threat.

Before you go raiding, you must go to alot of different instances, do quests, smith your own armors and such stuff!
Some items that are good to get and what to enchant them with before you raid is:

Head: (Felsteel Helm - Item - World of Warcraft) Felsteel Helm - Blacksmithing
Enchant: (Glyph of the Defender - Item - World of Warcraft) Glyph of the Defender - Keepers of Time (Revered)

Neck: (Strength of the Untamed - Item - World of Warcraft) Strength of the Untamed - Cenarion Expedition (Revered)

Shoulder: (Spaulders of the Righteous - Item - World of Warcraft) Spaulders of the Righteous - Botanica, Normal Mode (Laj)
Enchant: (Greater Inscription of the Knight - Item - World of Warcraft) Greater Inscription of the Knight - The Scryers (Exalted)

Back: (Devilshark Cape - Item - World of Warcraft) Devilshark Cape - The Steamvault, Normal (Warlord Kalithresh)
Enchant: (Enchant Cloak - Dodge - Spell - World of Warcraft) Dodge: This enchanting recipe is now available from the Lower City Quartermaster.

Chest: (Jade-Skull Breastplate - Item - World of Warcraft Breastplate - The Mechanar, Normal (Netherancer Sepethrea)
Enchant: (Enchant Chest - Exceptional Health - Spell - World of Warcraft Health - Trained

Wrist: (Bracers of the Green Fortress - Item - World of Warcraft) Bracers of the Green Fortress - Blacksmithing
Enchant: (Enchant Bracer - Major Defense - Spell - World of Warcraft) Major Defense - World Drop - Ethereum Nullifier/Researchers in Netherstorm

Hands: (Felsteel Gloves - Item - World of Warcraft) Felsteel Gloves - Blacksmithing
Enchant: (Enchant Gloves - Superior Agility - Spell - World of Warcraft) Superior Agility: This enchanting recipe is now available from the Keepers of Time Quartermaster
(Note: this enchant can be switched for the major Spellpower one if you need the threat gen)

Waist: (Girdle of the Immovable - Item - World of Warcraft) Girdle of the Immovable - The Slave Pens, Heroic (Quagmirran)

Legs: (Timewarden's Leggings - Item - World of Warcraft) Timewarden's Leggings - Keepers of Time (Revered)
Enchant: (Clefthide Leg Armor - Item - World of Warcraft) Clefthide Leg Armor - Leatherworking

Feet: (Boots of the Colossus - Item - World of Warcraft) Boots of the Colossus - Mana Tombs, Heroic (Pandemonius)
Enchant: (Enchant Boots - Fortitude - Spell - World of Warcraft) Fortitude - Instance drop, Mana Tombs (Ethereal Priest)

Ring 1: (Protector's Mark of the Redemption - Item - World of Warcraft) Protector's Mark of the Redemption - long quest series in Shadow Moon Valley, Starts with The Path of Conquest
Enchant: If youre an enchanter you could enchant the rings with either spelldmg or stats.

Trinket 1: (Adamantine Figurine - Item - World of Warcraft) Adamantine Figurine - Shadow Labyrinth, Normal (Blackheart the Inciter)

Trinket 2: (Figurine of the Colossus - Item - World of Warcraft) Figurine of the Colossus - The Shattered Halls, Normal (Warchief Kargath Bladefist)

    Weapon: (Warp-Storm Warblade - Item - World of Warcraft) Warp-Storm Warblade - Mana-Tombs, Heroic (Nexus-Prince Shaffar)
Enchant: (Enchant Weapon - Major Spellpower - Spell - World of Warcraft) Major Spellpower - World drop, Blade's Edge Mountains (Razaani/Bash'ir Spell-Thief, Bash'ir Arcanist), BoP.
    Or Mongoose.

Shield: (Crest of the Sha'tar - Item - World of Warcraft) Crest of the Sha'tar - The Sha'tar (Exalted)
Enchant: (Enchant Shield - Shield Block - Spell - World of Warcraft) Shield Block - 100% world drop, BoE

Libram: (Libram of Repentance - Item - World of Warcraft) Libram of Repentance - 15 Heroic Badges

Gems: (Solid Star of Elune - Item - World of Warcraft) Solid Star of Elune (+12 Stamina) - 100% world drop, BoE

Ring 2: (Elementium Band of the Sentry - Item - World of Warcraft) Elementium Band of the Sentry - The Arcatraz, Normal (Harbinger Skyriss)
Enchant: If youre an enchanter you could enchant the rings with either spelldmg or stats.

    Sta: 458 (from gear) + 123 (base for a BE) + 192 (16 gem slots all filled with +12sta gems) = 782 * 1.06(the talent any decent protadin will have) == 828.92 stam

    Def: 353 Rating: [(353/2.4)+20]/25*4 = 26.6 avoidance from Def (block/dodge/parry/miss)

    Block: 82 Rating: 82/7.9 = 10.4 Avoidance

    Dodge: 118 Rating: 118/18.9 = 6.24 Avoidance

    Parry: 0 = 0

    SO:

    That stam == 11,606 Hp
    Total Block = 21.95
    Total Dodge = 17.79
    Total Parry = 16.55
    Total miss = 11.55
    Block From HS = 35%

    All this together makes :

    HP = 11606
    Avoidance = 103.4%

Macro's well i am not a macro Guy beside's my loveable /y MY ROFLCOPTER GOES "SWOSH SWOSH SWOSH" Macro the only macro I use for tanking is this

    /Cast Holy Sield
    /Stop cast
    /Cast Righteous Defense

If it come's up with a little mouse cursor look on the DPS Meter and click on the person who is highest (If melee) To take aggro off of him And put it towards yourself
If you lose aggro and waiting on a CD Use Blessing of protection on the person that has taken aggro and then use Righteous defense and tell Him/Her To stop DPS For a bit

    Seal's/Self Buff's

Well this was a hard one for me at the start (I Started as a holy pally tanking small instance's and Add's then switched to prot) But now i use either
Blessing of King's/Seal of the crusader/Righteous Fury
    Or
Blessing of sanctuary/Seal of Righteousness/Righteous fury
    Or!
Blessing of king's/Seal of Command/Righteous fury

The 2nd one is probably best for taking aggro if you have some good spell damage 400 or so + If not stick with the first one and use one or two consecration's

You won't have too much spelldamage if you do as its said here, its because you just got started! Raid for better gear.

That about cover's it i think... Beside's addon's but I dont use to many Good luck with your tanking pallies!

    P.S
Please remember this is the way I do it it may not be up to the standard's of other Paladin tank's but it is for me and has worked great If I have missed something please feel free to add it

I will be making more How to be... Guide's when i have played further into Each of the class's Most of my guide's will be for PvE Since PvP is pretty easily picked up i will take request's if you like my guide(s)

palidans arent that good for end game raids. u need a warrior for the simple fact that they have more abilities to interupt spell cast and they also have shield block which is almost required for illidan. if ur a pally go holy spec they have the best single person heals and are chose over a priest for main tank healer

ben, pls stfu when you have no idea about things. In endgame you really wont interrupt spells with your shield bash and holy shield is basically same as shield block. And paladins have already tanked illidan like 5-6 months ago.

I have a 64 ret pally and hate healing. Also I have seen some end game pally tanks in NightMare Asylim (Just broke up--Use to be the best guild on smolderthorn tho)

So don't say pallys can't tank end game...

This is prob one of the worst paladin gear guides i've seen. i have the easiest answer for kara raiding, get warr tank gear and then gladiators gavel since tanks don't need any dps on the weapon, but need more threat. Spell damage gives more threat for paladin tanks, but dps don't. A warr is the best for illidan, since shiled block adds 75% block and 2(?) charges, and illidans speed is perfect for using all charges, while holy shields gives less block, and then higher chance of getting hit, but have more charges so would be better if you have around 35% block as a paladin to never get hit, by melee hits that is.
EDIT : I saw that the gear you said, totaly ended up with around 400 defence rating. YOU NEED 490+ BEFORE RAIDING KARA! YOU NEED ABOUT 95% AVOIDANCE, 11K HP AND 300 SPELL DMG! And why did you even list mongoose as a weapon enchant?

Joppe wtf are u smoking, in t6 gear u got like 70-80% uncrushability, it dosnt mean a **** that does ur shield block / holy shield give 30% or 75% block chance, both takes you over 102.4%

And 10 charges > 2 charges, a big chump of extra threat aswell.

Im using some old badge gear and i got 72% uncrushability, just think that t6 gear and realize that HS > SB.

I said: OR mongoose, but that doesnt really matter.

Did i tell you i talked about uncrushablility? i talked about not getting hit at all, so it's loads easier to have a warrior. And holy shield shouldn't be a reliable source of threat. Same as redoubt isn't counted as a uncrushability factor, since it procs on hit, not on use.

    EDIT
Blessing of King's/Seal of the crusader/Righteous Fury
    Or
Blessing of sanctuary/Seal of Righteousness/Righteous fury
    Or!
Blessing of king's/Seal of Command/Righteous fury.
Should be Blessing of King's / Seal of Righteousness / Righteous fury all the time.
Except for ally's, change Seal of Righteousness for Seal of Vengeance

You shouldn't even count seal of command in, since it doesn't proc on all hits.
