    [Guide]Another Rogue PvE Guide! Part1

At home in the shadows and skilled at disappearing from sight, the Rogues of Azeroth are most comfortable when acting in the background. Twisting events to their favor, striking only when advantage is greatest: this is where a Rogue excels. With their cunning tricks, physical abilities, and mastery of concealment and disguise, Rogues have no trouble finding employment as thieves, cutthroats, spies, and assassins.

    Rogue's PvE Guide by Zealot

Rogues are a really valuable dps class on dungeons, heroic or not. As a rogue you will be able to peak sky-high DPS. In order to achieve that you must first know tha basic things and i am here to let you know some. As a rogue i prefer the Sword/Sword S&D + Rupture spec 20/41/-- [Slice'n'Dice + Rupture Spec]. While using this spec , Slice and Dice must be always up. Same goes for rupture. Personally i peaked 1.1k Personal DPS with this spec while fighting The Lurker Below. Also valuable is the Fist/Sword spec which provides you with 5% more critical chance but also gives the sword spec bonus, granting you one extra attack with your main hand , which is still affected by that 5% bonus crit. [Fist/Sword S&D+Rupture]
A rogue is also useful as a crowd control. You can use some of these useful on instances forms of croud control.

    Vanish Pull

A vanish pull basicly means pulling a pack on NPCs with your ranged weapon then vanishing, granting you the chance to get both an opener at the pull and making the mobs easier to be tanked.

    Evasion OT
"Oh no! Healer on fire!" As a rogue you can always pop evasion and offtank the mob that got into the healer, untill the tank reaches you and picks it up. Personally i use this alot on harder instances such as Heroic Magister Terrace, but it must not be used during a raid (chances are he will one shot you and the mob will go all out killing the raid).

    Stunlock

Stunlock does not mean that the target is always stunned. It actually means "I kill you dont attack me!". Its really useful as a CC since you can take care of more than one mob ( [Sap] ) if CC is lacked. When stunlocking in an instance i follow this circle:

Cheap Shot > Sinister > Shiv > Rend > Kidney shot > Blind > Vanish > Start over again

Basicly by the time your kidney shot is over the other mob will be dead and the tank will pick the stunlocked mob.

    Hit Rating
Hit rating is one of the most important PvE Stats for a rogue. When you have enough hit rating (around 320 cap) you wont miss a single shot, that means that you can no longer lose energy by moves that fail. The hit rating for starting Pve (heroics) is around 185. The hit rating for starting raiding (Karazhan) is 200. Expertise is also important , which can be easily capped by having 26/26. As a human rogue i cap expertise by having [Shard of Contempt] eguiped. I get +42 expertise plus +5 human racial plus +10 by talents , reducing the chance an NPC will dodge/parry my attacks by 6.50%.

    Potions/Elixirs/Buff Food

    [10 man raids]

    Alchemic goods
-Elixir of Major Agility [+35 Agi +20 Crit rating] / Requires:1 Terocone, 2 Felweed, 1 Imbued vial. - Normally 2-3g on the Auction House*.

-Haste Potion [+400 Haste rating for 15 sec] / Requires: 2 terocone, 1 Netherbloom, 1 Imbued vial. - Normally 6-8g on the Auction House*.

    Buff food
    - Spicy Hot Talbuk [+20 Hit Rating for 30 min] / Requires: 1 Talbuk Venison, 1 Hot Spice's. -Normally 1-1.5g on the Auction House.

    - Grilled Mudfish [+20 Agi for 30 min] / Requires: Figluster's Mudfish. - Normally 1g on the Auction House*.

    - Warp Burger [+20 agi for 30 min] / Requires: Warped Flesh. - Normally 1-2g on the Auction House*.

    - Ravager Dog [+40 AP for 30 min] / Requires: Ravager Flesh. - Normally 1-2g on the Auction House*.

    [25 man raids]

At 25 man raids i suggest you use [Shattrath Flask of Relentless Assault] or [Flask of Relentless Assault] if you are on your first attempts on a boss. If you have it on farm i suggest you use 10 man raids buffs.

    LockPicking
I dont know whether this fits on this part but lock picking is a skill rogues usually ingore. Its really useful since you can open lockboxes or pick lock locked doors/chests that provide you with extra loot. When i was leveling my lock picking i got a blue drop form a lockbox and i sold it for 100g (Example).
Anyways using this guide i leveled my lock picking to 350/350 in 6 hours.

    Part 1 - End - Part 2 coming soon

It's a good attempt, but there are far too many things wrong with this guide.

If you really care about rogue PVE dps then go check out the EJ forums.

313 is raidbuffed hitcap, or 317 ... And 363 is hitcap without raidbuffs... also I would like to add that never use rupture on a mob that has low health. Envenom or eviscerate is the way to go. I've seen too many rogues do this mistake...

Hit rating is overated. I top damage in my TK/SSC guild with 233 hit rating.

As a rogue yourself you should know that its not REND - Its Rupture.
And It seems silly to waste both Blind and Vanish when you can re stealth after using blind.. :S

I LOLed about the Rend part aswell!

But regarding the Blind > Stealth! He is talking about PvE! When blinding a mob you wont lose your Combatflag like you do when fighting a player!

The hit rating cap is 363. What are you on about when you say 'Raidbuffed' Dignox? There are no raid buffs that increase your hit rating. (Only the food)
Also - Yes, Hit rating is kinda overrated, Once you get around 300 Hit Rating, AP Becomes more important tbh.

Aswell as the rend thing, which seems abit.. suspect, you could also chuck in a 45 energy gouge to give 6 seconds of energy regen/kidney shot cooldown and deal a nice 2k damage.

Then theres the whole hit rating cap thing. Hit rating cap for rogues is actually 364-365 dependant on how accurate your talking; unless you carry a moonkin with imp faerie fire with you ever raid (which doesnt happen).

Theres alot missing in this guide to playing a rogue well in PvE and I guess thats why you called it part 1; I'm intrested to see how this ends up but its still nice to see some effort put in.

    If you need a hand getting sources take a good look at;

    Cloze's Rogue Guide @ 16.10.2007 - 22:50 | Nihilum.eu - MMORPG Gaming Guild and Community

(for those not as sad as me hehe, Cloze is one of the greatest PvE rogues known in the WoW community)

I'm intrested in your view on dps spreadsheets and how they impact a good rogues PvE play.

/Eager rogue looking forward to what could be an awesome guide!

Edit; I just noticed your advise on taking flasks instead of pots which while would be the 'cheaper' option isn't the best option to maximising your dps & survivability. Major agility pots combined with forititude are really the way forward for almost every situation. Also you have listed lots of foods with auction house prices for your realm but perhaps listing where they can be farmed and what situations you would use a certain food over another might help abit more (I'm stubborn and refuse to buy anything I can farm off the AH )
