This is a guide to help improve your PVP experience as a rogue. It is not going to make you the best rogue ever, you have to try to reach that by yourself, but there are helpful tips to achieve your goals at becoming a great rogue.
I.Cooldown Management
___________________________________________________
Cooldowns are by far the most powerful weapon a rogue has in its arsenal, they allow you to get away from a player, or become far more competitive in multiple target encounters, Cooldown management is the act of managing your cooldowns and not blowing too many in a single fight, and knowing when and what to use at what time.
Vanish- This should not be used in a duel other then to stop a cast, if a mage has a pyro blast headed twords you, vanish. with good timing, you can completely avoid the spell, even when its half way to you. its better to vanish such things then cloak of shadows.
Cloak of shadows- for a 1 minute cooldown, it is the deadliest cooldown a rogue has, when used correctly, it can help you take down multiple targets with ease. I prefer using it with blind in multiple enemy encounters, CoS should be used for DoT spells, or to get out of shatter combo's, it's best not to use it to avoid any casted spells, as vanish will give you a much larger upper hand.
Blind-It is your highest for of crowd control, an enemy leaves combat after roughly 6 seconds of not combatant activity, if you are against a single enemy, it is a good idea to regroup yourself, buy restealthing and sapping them to plan out your next move. Remember, never use blind to stop a cast, its better to take the hit and die, then waste a cooldown that can be needed for a fight a minute later. (it is a game, you WILL die, but you need to always remember you will rez, and fight again)
Evasion-Versus melee, evasion is your friend, I rarely find myself using it anymore, as i've become so use to rupture kiting people. But on another not, versus a warrior, USE EVASION, 2k damage every 6 seconds, is much better then a 3k MS and a 2k White attack. I cant tell you how many times evasion has saved my butt at 20% HP with a warrior on me.
Shadowstep*Sub tree*- If you have it, you will love yourself, and never spec out of it. It is by far the most versitile ability a rogue has as of right now, I cant tell you how to use it, as it is something you need to learn on your own.
II. The Stunlock
_________________________________
Stuns are your friend, people who say stunlock is cheap, obviously need to learn game mechanics, you are givin your skills for a reason, USE THEM.
Everyone stunlocks differently, a stunlock does not necesarrly mean the person is stunned 100% of the fight, a stunlock is a term for "I hit you, you dont touch me." after a kidney shot, you can always run away, deadzone, restealth and sap. Rogues are a control class, learn it, love it, live it.
III. Daggers vs. Other.
______________________________________________
Do yourself the favor, and not let your personal likings effect your choice on this. Daggers vs. any other weapon is solely depended on your way of stunlocking, it is YOUR CHOICE, I prefect swords, but daggers are just as effective when used correctly. They say resil killed dagger rogues, i beg to differ, its the shear fact that every dagger rogue and there mother went to swords because the old "31/8/12" dagger build was killed when BC came out, and you can no longer 3 shot people, DONT LET THAT GET YOU DOWN!. Daggers give more control then swords in many forms, it allows for quick high burst damage, and higher combo point generation.
But swords gives you a more easy laid back form of killing people, with a good for of control vs. multiple targets.
In conclusion, yes this guide is crap, and yes. its bias.
I have been playing the rogue class since Barman shanker was the best mainhand you can get your hands on.
You need to learn everything else yourself and just practice, my words of advice are for those who need to work on your control, as I stated, rogues are a control class, and thats how they are suppose to be played, never try to play a rogue
up in someones face, it's just not smart.
