Nope, all you are doing is buying stuff from the auction house. Since they are trading it from faction to faction, that character that they are trading it to is probably a lvl 1 and has no cash. So they will sell it cheap, and all you are doing is buying it, its not really a scam, you are just tricking them into trading it to their alt.
