The multiply scam

People are scamming money alot these days, and I am indeed sorry if this is a repost but here goes.

Using the command:
/script SILVER_PER_GOLD=0.01
Then it looks like you have A LOT! of more money. This is client side(it is fake, it only looks like you have a lot of money).

Now the scam:
Find someone rich, and tell them you can multiply his money by 100x, and say all you want is a set amount of money

When the person seems to agree, tell him to use the command, after that if he says: Omg it worked! Ask for your money, and then send it to another character. After that just log out and enjoy the money.

But lets face it, if the person is dumb enough to understand that. He will certainly be smart enough to not give you any money

I think it's a repost from along time ago.

Also think its success rate was very very very low. Basically only worked on newbs and made like 50g at a time or w/e.

Well, there are other practical uses, like if u were trying to scam someone and sell ur account or something. i dont remember ever seeing this before, so ill just take it as the first that i have seen.

Edit: this never/rarely works because you are told "why not do it yourself" tell them it only works once, and in order to be certain you make a good bit of money you must establish they have a base amount of gold in their bag.

yes it is bannable but also avoidable, read my thread for more info on abvoiding bans with it etc.

well i will just paste the thread here.

I Know This Is Already Posted (i didn't even need to search) but this is my revision of going about figuring everything out for it to work

The original scam as i heard about it goes somthing along the lines of:

1. ask the victim how much gold they have
2. tell the victim that if they type in /Script SILVER_PER_GOLD=0.01 it dupes there gold. ask for gold in return

a few holes i can see from this.

1. why not dupe your own gold is what they may say
2. alot of people wont tell you how much gold they have to start.
3. WHY trust you at all

4. you know what you're doing in their eyes so ban chance is high
5. i'll have more.


so my revision. (i'll provide an 'Aid' near the bottom)

1. start by talking to them
2. ask for help with something you heard about
3. introduce it as a bug in the GM commands
4. tell them they need 150g on them for it to work, that way you know it aint a waste of your time and you can have a baseline of 150g profit (you can change it to get more money) [the 150g comes into effect later]
5. ask them if they only want to dupe 150 (tell them only duping a portion could do something )
6. or tell them to tell you their exact amount of cash and explain how each amount has a different code.
7. modify the script. so if they say 171g 76s 12c make it
/Script SILVER_PER_GOLD=0.01717612
it makes it seem less fishy
8. tell them to open there backpack up and then hit enter and type it in EXACTLY
9. ask em if it worked... it will NOT change if they keep their bag open
10. acts sad and dissapointed then pretend to troubleshoot tell them to type it in again, ETC. then tell them to open and close their bag (this will make the money change clientside)
11. say you only have 4g and want to dupe gold, ask for the 146g you 'need' for it to work.
12. if you get it good, if not walk away.
13. it gets suspicious when you try to get it, remember you HAD NO CLUE if this worked up until then.
14. if you get it walk away and log out for a few days.

me: lol, nawh i'm just a guy... but anyways to the point, will u help me try somthing?
scammed: umm, like what?
me: my friend just told me about some error in blizzards coding, sumtin about leaving one complex GM command open by accident
scammed: .... and it does??!?
me: oyeah forgot to tell u that lawl, it dupes your money. i unno if it works though. :'( QQ
scammed: why not try it yourself?
me: you need at least 150g to try it cuz it didn't work for me, so i wanna see if it'll work.



scammed: well i do.
me: there's a different script for each amount of money or sumtin, how muc hdo u have?
scammed: 390g
me: nice, okay well this is what you type EXACTLY, /Script SILVER_PER_GOLD=0.0390 and you should have alot of gold.
scammed; dude it did nothing
mepen and close your backpack? he sed that happens somthimes XD
scammed: dude it f*cking worked.
me: lol, can i try?
scammed: ye sure,
me: lol i only have 2g so could you pass me 148?
scammed: hell! sure why not! this is awsome!!
me: dude, it f*cking worked!!! yes!
me: thx man
scammed: no! THANK YOU!



and thats how i got 150g.
pluss it seems like when they get scammed/figure it out you can act clueless and had no clue how it worked and appologize, but if you can get done and mail it/Xfer it before they notice say your money dissapeared.

i made 450g in one day and no one has reported me. some have complained to me about fixing it and i just pretend to troubleshoot with them, it's kinda godly i would say.
