I hate how Blizzard is doing this to the Warcraft story; they are ruining it. To satisfy the WoW players, Blizz needs to add in more content, most of which is lore-related material. However, not everyone will ever be able to get to raid bosses like Illidan or most importantly, Arthas. I don't want to kill these characters in WoW; I want to do it in another Warcraft RTS, with a badass CG video to go with it. It seems like such a more fitting end that all these stories were created in WC3, and should end the same way. It would make the whole thing more complete, with a more finite resolution. Watching Arthas put on the Helm of the Lich King was one of the most epic things I've seen. I wish Blizz would let us kill Arthas in another RTS

one recent and interesting change is the change announced to the combat log system.
it will be completely revamped and although all combat log addons will need to be rewritten, in the end it will be a great win for everyone !!!

According to WoWWiki, you're wrong about players killing Kil'jaeden. Kael'thas is trying to summon him into Azeroth and the players are supposed to stop Kael'thas from doing so, but you end up with killing a Kil'jaeden that's still being summoned into the world and fairly powerless, compared to his real power.

Or as WoWWiki describes it:

Kil'jaeden will be the final boss in the Sunwell Plateau raid. Players will be facing off against a twisted abomination of Kil'jaeden that is still being summoned into Azeroth by his new lieutenant, Kael'thas Sunstrider.

Don't worry, we won't be killing the real Kil'jaeden, not yet atleast.
