Hi.
Since some time ago I've been having system's crashes [freezes]. It started around MoP, 5.4 if I remember correctly. In most of the cases it was happening while jumping between realms [had maybe 10 system's freezes while not changing realm since MoP] like RAM or GPU coulnd't bare it. So I've started digging around it and something worked out but can't be sure what exactly.
Below you'll find the list what I've done and I've found to be working in some cases but there was no need to try it, since something worked out for me.
Things I've done:
1. In systems higher than W7 there is auto update software option. It works out in most cases but in mine, there were 2-3 drivers to update. So I've manually checked update for every hardware installed.
2. CHKDSK for all partitions.
3. SFC [scan now] command [as root/admin] with fixing the problems [if there were]. Found two of them and they've been solved.
4. Downed entire WoW's configuration to lowest possible including sound etc.
5. Cleaned up the system. No malware etc. found but to be sure. Also would be reasonable to check uninstalled software. Some of them left trashes in register [used REVO uninstaller to perform it].
6. Checked hardware with testing software to see if it could be the problem. It was not. Neither prime or 3Dmark found nothing.
7. Checked system's services also.
8. System's updates from your producent.
9. I've checked system monitoring which pointed to energy problem. If I remember correctly it was either Kernel 41 or 43 in W7. Due that I've followed to energy distribution in W7. I've changed motherboard from min. 5% to max and also checked GPU & RAM but there was not too much to optimize so I left them to be.
10. I've followed DXDIAG's report which pointed me to two things. Firstly - SFC problems [point #3 here] and secondly - some errors on some partition with files. It was checked but with no results as the files were not existing there. Went through entire report again to check and eliminate rest of the problems.
Things I haven't done but found posts saying that they're working [in some cases]:
1. Defragmentation of all partitions.
2. In cases of radeon's users - downing drivers to Catalyst 12.11 Beta or 12.3 [both on normal / beta settings]. Some of the users reported to do it in safe mode.
3. In cases of radeon's users - disabling something named HD audio in your machine's device management. It's provided by AMD but not necessary if you've got integrated audio card.
4. Fan spped in terms of GPU.
5.Increase the Core Voltage of Your GFX card so that frequency will keep up on the Engine/Memory OR find out default specification of Your GFX on the web and than just set the values back to standard (not overclocked).
Ps I hope it would help someone but if I'm posting it in wrong section then please move it to correct one.
