How do I play a priest?

I just used a SoR on one of my old accounts and decided to make a priest so I got it to 80. unfortunatly, I've never done cata dungeons and I've never played a priest either so the groups aren't going to well What I want to know is what spells should I be using most what should I avoid just kind of things like that. Any help would be much appeciated.

Well to start off,holy in 80 isn't the best but here we go:

Use chakra all the time, AoE heal and just Heal/Greater heal on needed people else renew them! I can write a complete guide when I'm home from school such as rotations,also always use divine hymm when it's possible!

I play priest as shadow/disc never tried holy but tbh there are many guides on gameplay all over the net about priest as there is with all other classes

This is a 2 min work just for the basics !

First thing: Chakras. The Chakra state is one of the Holy Priest’s signature abilities, and can look pretty complicated – however, it’s actually really simple, learn to use it & you'll save alot of mana. I'd suggest you to be in the AoE Chakra since Duengons/Raids/BGs(!?) & such.

Make a macro with "/s This (Light) Well is Well for you! /cast lightwell"

Use Prayer of Mending whenever on CD & renew all that is 80%+.

Stats, Reforging and Gems
Gems:
It's up to every singel holy priest actually but I prefer Spirit/int & Int/haste (Becouse of Renew)
Reforging:¨
I'd say roll spirit & haste, crit can be good too but I rather be safe with a fast heal than play with a crit/die
Stats:
I think it's obvious, Int-Spirit-Haste

Glyphs

Prime Glyphs: Glyph of Renew and Glyph of Prayer of Healing. For the third glyph, choose Glyph of Lightwell if you play with people who remember to click on it, or Glyph of Guardian Spirit otherwise.
Major Glyphs: Prayer of Mending and two others. Circle of Healing is potentially useful in 25-man, particularly if you don’t suffer mana problems. Dispel Magic is useful on Dispel-heavy fights. There’s no other must-have third Major glyph – use whatever you like. It won’t matter too much!
Minor Glyphs: Glyph of Shadowfiend, Glyph of Levitate, and Glyph of Fading are good choices.
