Am I getting in trouble for farming Cata leather early?? If so that is LUDICROUS

So I heard about how you can get Cata leather early today, by farming certain fish/shark mobs that are like lvl 20-45 in numerous zones.

Now after doing heaps of forum reading, all the Blizzard fanboys are screaming ban ban ban and saying that people who have done this will be banned unless they destroy all leather they have and petition a GM talking about the situation.

I have 5 stacks of Savage Leather and 2 Pristine Hides. I spent hours farming this crap and I don't think it's fair that I CAN ACTUALLY GET IN TROUBLE FOR IT just because Blizzard made a mistake. I didn't even know what I was doing was wrong!! I asked some guy and he said that it's fine and not a big deal at all, to farm until my heart is content.

So basically, can I get in trouble for this? In the other Farming savage leather thread a mmowned user said that he got warned and had all his skins removed but is there a chance a GM could be harsher? I didn't use any exploits to farm the mobs at all, I farmed them straight up normally, they just drop cata leather. I used the fish in EPL for farming.

How much trouble could I get in for this if I choose to keep the skins (Now in my bank) and not destroy them and petition a GM? Is a 3 day or even a permanent ban something I could be looking at unless I "own up" (Although I find it ****ing retarded that people have to own up, we haven't done anything wrong! We are ****ing skinning and these stupid pricks should have had this sort of stuff sorted before they released the god damn patch)

Warning ? Suspension? Final Warning? Ban? What am I looking at? Whats the chance of me getting caught if I don't talk about the leather/try to sell it or anything and just keep it in my bank until after Cata releases? I'd rather not be banned during release day.. not worth it

    Thanks guys

Where did you farm it ? If you werent in a zone that you arent allowed to be in then its no problem. I dont think that you should worry but if you are afraid of getting banned you can always give the leather to me and i take care of it. =)

1.) Stay out of the actual zones
2.) Don't sell the stuff early
3.) Don't tell people you have the leather already (this includes guild mates, only takes 1 jealous person)

The odds of anything happening just for farming the leather are very low unless you try and sell the goods before Cata release, no one knows you have it and so far blizzard isn't doing anything to look for people that have this stuff. This is all just to be on the safe side, they may not do anything even if they know you have the leather but it does no good to risk it.

I personally have guild bank(s) full of leather, meat, greens, shit loads of fish, etc and none of my toons has even been contacted by blizzard, I have no reason to believe they ever will.

I farmed it all in normal zones. I have never been too nor did I farm anything in a Cataclysm zone. I farmed this stuff from Menethil Harbor Sharks and The Groupers in Eastern Plague lands.

I will 120% not sell the stuff early, was not planning too. That seems like the stupidest thing to do.

Only 3 people know I have the leather and one of them farmed some with me, the other 2 are very close guild mates and I am 100% sure they would not report me or say anything, they seriously aren't those type of guys n they didn't care less, thought it was neat I figured out how to get skins early. BUT there was other people that know I farmed it that I talked to randomly while I was actually farming, pretty much all of them being fellow farmers or random alliance I ganked (Hopefully they don't tell on me or realize what I was doing, Doubt they would have told on me though)

And Frozenthorn, you mean your guild banks are full of CATACLYSM leather, meat, greens and fish? Or just in general? I assume the first option but yeah just making sure.. if you have that much crap in there then it makes me feel heaps better.

But yeah on the off chance that they do find out, is it likely I will get anything that will cause permanent damage to my account (Like a final warning or a "strike" on my account?)

Thanks again dudes. Would love to hear other peoples opinions on this too so feel free to post

Highly doubtful that blizzard would be stupid enough to ban people who farmed leather early, in a zone that are allowed to be in.

This. Blizzard caused the problem and shouldn't ban people for their mistakes. Then again they would probably say you were exploiting anyway.
