Does Blizzard ban by IP or Hardware Configuration?

No, I do not have a static IP. So even if Blizzard does ban my IP I know it would easy to get around it.

Also I have had problems with PunkBuster in the past because it actually sends out a hash(or something) which identifies some of your hardware. I was able to get around PunkBuster using a custom driver, but it was still rather annoying.

Does Blizzard only ban accounts or do they also take these extra steps? I want to try a few bots on trial WoW accounts, but should I also be doing it through proxy or on a junk pc?

Blizzard has never banned any IP's.

I do know they have banned MAC adresses though.

Okay, so I should be using something like SMAC to change my MAC address?

You can't change your MAC address, it's physically interegrated into your networks card.

Well, maybe change was not the proper word to use. i should have said 'spoofing' because the hard-coded MAC address does stay the same. SMAC helped me get past Punkbuster's Mac address check. So it definitely works.
