Does Blizzard ban Battle.net ID's or specific accounts on those ID's?

Anyone who has multiple accounts on one Battle.net account and has experience with being banned, can you please offer some insight into how Blizzard handles their banning process?

I mean if I have one "main" account that I don't exploit on or use any 3rd party software, and then have a secondary account attached to the SAME Battle.net ID that I use as a glitch/bot account, and it gets flagged & banned, does my main account get banned as well by association, or does Blizzard only ban the specific game account that was guilty of breaking the ToS?

It's banned by the specific account used. The only reason the entire account will get blocked is if you get caught doing things that involve fraud or extreme cases.
If you intend to bot and trade, then i suggest you use separate battle.net accounts and a mule to be safe.

EDIT: Example. My cousins Diablo 3 account was hacked and brutally abused, it got disabled/suspended for a lot of 3rd party tools. The WoW account attached to the battle.net account was perfectly fine after the diablo 3 was disabled/suspended.

Thanks for the insight, answers my question perfectly!

Mainly interested in botting my second account to level up new characters, and with the benefits of account-wide functionality (mounts mostly, and to a lesser extent achievements/HKs/etc) I'd prefer to keep it under one battle.net ID. Not really planning any elaborate financial gains or anything like that.
