    Don't bother with 4gb of ram if you're using a 32bit OS. It can't see it.

    If you run Vista or XP 64bit, then having 4gb of ram is acceptable.

    It's a limitation of the operating system itself. A 32bit OS can (generally speaking) only see about 3gb of Ram.
