What computer specs do I need to run lag free server?

Okay, so I want to buy a computer dedicated for hosting my WoW server. Can you guys please give me an insight? Like how much RAM, hard drive, processor, etc. Also, would I need a really good connection speed on MY computer in order for players to play lag free? Please, all information will help me.

Imo 2GB RAM and a Quad Core processor is enough to make a lag free server, although this varies depending on the amount of players aswell as the amount of content. A private server shouldnt take more than about 5GB. So harddrive really doesnt matter.

For internet there is no such thing as lag free. It will always be laggy for someone and there's nothing you can do about it.

100/100 mbit is a good connection.

what H3Lios said is true, but you would be much better off paying for a dedicated host, buying the computer, paying for the hefty electric bill, and getting some good internet (i highly doubt you already have 100mb/s download and upload speed) will cost you way more then paying for a dedicated server with the same specs

You don't need a hardcore PC, the server isn't running the graphics, only the queries and threads. So no hardcore graphic card is needed. nor sound card.. Basicly all you need is a decent amount of RAM and a quad core processor (quad core can do more jobs without using full load constantly)

so basicly, a laptop with 4gb ram and a quad core processor can do the job, just as good as a 5000 dollar stationaire PC made for gaming..
