I can't get the Darkmoon Tiger to work, it will simply just put it just infront of the wall and not through it

Are you on the tree? You have to be standing on an object (like the tree) that goes through the invisible wall.

I just went back and tested it in the Old Hillsbrad Foothills instance at that spot (I actually hadn't tested the Tiger, just assumed, shame on me!)... but it worked like a charm. You owe me 7 minutes and 1 Darkmoon Tiger.

Ah well, I've done some jumping around in hillsbrad now and found some EPL stuff like Uther's Tomb..

I also jumped beneath the world trying to get to the either of the 2 small lakes that exists in Hinterlands (thinking they might catch me up) but there were no lakes in the instanced version, and if i'm right when I was under I looked up and saw Aerie Peak, the dwarf city in west Hinterlands, tho I think it's a blue wall thats crossing it in the middle.

I'll definetly be trying to find a way up there, I've got some theorys I will try out tomorrow!

Aerie Peak does exist in Old Hillsbrad Foothills. If you go up behind the instanced Ravenholdt Manor you can get a very clear view of the eagle-shaped building. And yes the blue wall does cross through it, but only a small portion. You can see this in the screenshot in Teryaki's third post in this thread (the building in the screenshot is Aerie Peak).

That area of Hinterlands is completely blocked off by invisible walls. As you said, the 2 small Hinterlands lakes are not in the instance (the map cuts off before reaching them, they would be too far east). Reaching instanced Aerie Peak is no small feat... I'm still wondering if it is possible without hacks... and would give much respect and reputation to the person that manages to reach it and show us the way!

Trokair, I think I will take your challenge! Trying to find a way up there has been eating away at me since I posted a way outside the instance invisible walls, I think I will see if I can get over there somehow. May need a lot of wallclimbing, but it has to be possible somehow.

I think there are two ways to get there, one of them is using wallclimbing but it's pretty long and there are a lot of annoying blue walls. Easiest way to do it seems to be durnhole keep > ravenhold mannor > aerie peak
The other way seems to be a lot easier, using parcequefraise's hole in the ground. I'm working on it but you might want to know that there's a water strip right under the aerie peak. I don't know if you can fly there but you can just fall underground to this point.

Nice work Nyarly. Been trying most of the day yesterday to use rocketboots from Alterac Mountains to see if I can get to a place where I can just walk up the mountain into Hinterlands. Hinterlands won that battle unfortunately. I will have to try some of the methods you posted. +rep from me Also gonna give some rep to parcequefraise for that hole in the ground. Didn't know it existed.

Edit: In the photo, it looks like that water strip is way below the ground. is it possible to keep following it around and get up to the ground? I will have to do further testing when I get back from class. Will keep finding a way to use rocketboots as well.

Yep it's way below the ground. You cannot swim to the ground but maybe you'll be able to get a flying mount there (using teleport if it's an unknown zone)..

I just met someone that claimed he went there using walljumping. I reached the ravenholdt mannor and i'm trying to get there only with jumps, will keep you in touch. Btw there's nothing really exciting there ^^


Edit : Damnit, okey i'm right in front of it, i could just jump down and land there. But there's a blue wall, so i'm stuck..

Also, if you can bypass blue walls, it's easier to mount through wall on the rocks that block the path..

I don't think it is possible from that direction. I mentioned above that the eagle structure was visible from behind Ravenholdt Manor because I've done extensive testing/climbing back there... and there is one pesky angled invisible wall that prevents climbing from anywhere near Ravenholdt to anywhere near Hinterlands.

I also don't think there is an unknown zone in Old Hillsbrad Foothills, so that kills the flying option.

I still think the most promising routes are somehow via this waterway that Nyarly has pointed out (which I would try accessing through Parce's hole under the stairs), or some insane wall jumping... but the wall jumping would need to start more north than Ravenholdt to avoid the invisible wall immediately to the north.

I'll try to get to some of this tonight... but hopefully the good explorers here will beat me to it.

There is one small Unknown area in the far north-western corner of the zone, if that will help you out. I don't have the time to explore the instance properly during week days, so good luck to the rest of you.

I am afraid that the invisible wall that you guys are at is impassable by both blink and the darkmoon tiger. It is the same exact wall that is keeping us from getting though everywhere, except where the tree is in my 2nd video. Ritual, I will see what I can do about the unknown zone. Will try again to find another way over there probably tonight.

Edit: Ok, so I went to the NW corner of the zone like Ritual said, and there is in fact an Unknown zone there. One problem: I cannot fly there for some reason. I tried logging out and everything and I get on my windrider and cannot fly. Here is a screenie.



I don't usually have the font that big, but I made it that big to show you I was in an unknown zone. Notice that I am a Blood Elf, and not a Human, and I cannot mount on my Rusted Proto-Drake as well, so there goes that idea. Thanks for bringing it up though, Ritual. +rep when I can

Edit2: Been at this for a couple of hours now, and the Hinterlands are winning this battle. Been trying to use rocketboots to get far enough up the mountain to be able to climb the rest of the way, but have been failing. I don't want to give it up, but I might have to take a break from trying it. So frustrating!

One problem: I cannot fly there for some reason. I tried logging out and everything and I get on my windrider and cannot fly.

Get a warlock to summon you to the Unknown zone while you are flying on a flying mount.

Also, as soon as you fly out of the unknown zone you will get knocked off your mount. Fly real high, and bring along a boatload of Noggenfogger...

Guys, I found a way up there. It requires a warrior, but I thought the leaping was really fun. It took me around 18 leaps to get up there, so it will be a long video. Stay tuned. Will post it tonight.

DONE! Here it is. It was originally a 12 minute video, but I cut a bunch of stuff out and made it shorter (mainly the time between heroic leaps, trying to figure out the path, etc.) Music was really the only 6 minute song I had in my iTunes library, so hopefully it is fitting somewhat.



Enjoy! I particularly liked this exploration, with the jumping back and forth, it was really entertaining. I will use the same techniques in future explorations. Let me know if you have problems with the video.
