You probably think it's not an exploit because all it does is save time. Here is an example from animation cancelling in an entirely different game, with definite effect on gameplay:

Kara-Throw
This is a special version of a normal throw which makes your character move forward by cancelling the first few frames of a normal move into the throw.
Kara-throws are very useful. They seize your throw range.
This saves time, which to me is a HUGE deal, especially when doing WQs and leveling alts.
