So did they fix this already, or is there something to it? Some are saying it works others are saying it doesn't.

It works.
You can copy the Chest over to PTR.
You open the Chest and you get an Item. Now you would think, its the same as on Live.
What you can do, to prove its not, delete the Character on PTR and just recreate the Character on PTR with the same Chest.
Different Item in it. That means, the Chest you copy over, isn't the same like on Live Servers.
So this whole Thread is pointless and someone should delete it.![]()
All loot is generated when you loot the corpse or open object for the first time, not on spawn.
sadly my chest is already looted. Hopefully this lasts until next week!
Fresh reset and no chest is in class hall on PTR, Its there on live and not opened yet, does not appear at all on PTR, just an empty space where the chest belongs.
I have a feeling the people claiming its there has not really tested it at all.
wow after I read your comment I realized that you guys are talking about the classorderhall chest. I was thinking you talk about the worldquest chests![]()
can confirm, chest is not there on PTR. :P
Not necessarily. This very well could be the result of extremely lazy coding where basically the character has a unique internal ID, you copy the character to PTR and now the PTR character has the same unique internal ID. Where the laziness comes in, is the way the chest loot is randomized, instead of it being like normal corpses where it's generated at the point of looting it may be generated based on conditions + unique ID for esse of tracking dupers on Blizz's end. That's lazy, because you could (in theory) figure out the Unique ID for a toon by sniffing packets, and figure out the algorithm used for "randomized" loot, and write a program where you enter the ID and the last item looted and it returns what the next item will be, since the randomization isn't really random if copied toons on PTR get the exact same loot as their live counterpart.
This is all speculation and conjecture, though, based on the scenario presented by OP.
