Just a little thing I just figured out. As everyone should know, you get free bobbing apples from any inn as part of the Halloween thingy. You can feed these to your pet and it will gain the full 35 happiness regardless of its level.

Yes, but if your pet can eat fruit then its free food.

Then I suppose it takes a couple pieces of normal food to make a pet completely happy; and one bobbing apple can do it instead?

No, unfortunately. The apples are just free and give the full amount of happiness as a high level food does, as lower level food gives less, if any, happiness to a high level pet.
