Raid dps increase for everyone (needs warlock to set up)

    Instructions:

    1. Go to twinspire keep in the Jade Forest in Pandaria.
    2. Summon a minion.
    3. Send pet to aggro mob "felstorm summoner".
    4. Wait till minion gets "Gatrul's Doom".
    5. Dismiss minion immediately.
    6. Repeat for all minions.

    Go to raid:
    (Pre-pull)
    1. Summon minion. Hope Gatrul's Doom procs, if it doesn't summon another minion.
    2. The debuff should summon a level 83 fel imp which will attack you.
    3. Cast banish.

The fel imp will now be invulnerable but can still be attacked. The warlock and the whole raid can build
up resources (eg, embers, rage, icicles, orbs etc) and procs.

This should lead to a opening wave of massive overpowered burst damage.

Yeah it can. You should be able to destroy most combos with it.

The technique is a bit different from how you'd use it in a raid.

You have to wait for the timer to run down in arena before whipping out your minion. If the fel imp procs
before then it will get wiped as the match starts. (credit: Leniox who pointed that out to me)

For a raid this wouldn't be ideal.. Trinkets and other procs are wasted..

    Why would that be?

Wrong. RPPM trinkets have a guaranteed proc chance within the first couple seconds after a boss is first pulled so that doesn't matter.

It only wouldn't be ideal if using ICD trinkets which don't even drop from any bosses this tier anyways.

No; it has a VERY high statistical probability of proccing early in COMBAT; raidcombat or bossencounter combat doesnt reset that. So technically speaking, you are shooting yourself in the foot by doing this.

Well, how about equipping weapons, trinkets and the ring (basically things that can proc) and build the resource and dropping out of combat before the boss pull to equip them back?

That's not how it works. My group has used this trick multiple times and all of our trinkets still proced on pull on the boss. Blizzard made a change to RPPM trinkets in late ToT that caused RPPM trinkets to have an almost garrenteed proc chance on the first few seconds of pulling a boss.

It isn't very hard to figure this out, any combat logs out there will confirm this.

If you drop combat for a few seconds after using this trick before pulling the boss you will be fine.

How do you think certain guilds get huge parses on certain fights? They build up demonic fury/ embers/ frenzy stacks etc on the trash right before the boss and pull the boss very soon after the trash dies so their resources don't tick away. This trick pretty much duplicates the exact same thing exact same thing. It has no effect on trinket procs when the boss is pulled legit.

Thanks. You explained this much better than I did. Especially the part about guild parses, that's exactly what I was going for.

To be fair to Bluesius or Sillicis they didn't actually disagree with you. The problem was that I did not emphasize the need to drop combat, so they were right to raise the proc issue. I need to add an annotation at least to the video.

This whole thread is giving me so many ideas...

Yeah, I'd love to. Just levelled my warlock alt.

Are you hinting that there's some exploit potential there? I love a challenge....

wouldnt it be easier to just drag an iron worker over to a boss and build a resource on the pulled trash? This seems like a lot of work.

Well, serious raiding is a lot of work. This takes about 5 minutes to set up. Given how much time guilds spend on progression in the higher tiers that is a drop in the ocean..I heard the guild that downed Blackhand wiped 667 times. Any kind of dps increase will be a major advantage.

To some extent as reeked points out you can do this with trash, but not every fight will have accessible trash. Non-demon/elemental mobs also tend to die and aren't generally as accessible as a imp you can whip out anywhere. In practice I think you'll find this way has a lot of advantages.

There are also certain advantages in having a low-levl mob in a high level instance probably best not discussed openly.
