Emblems and Shards without killing bosses

So I went a random dungeon for about 5 min ago now, and when we came to a boss, I asked if anyone wanted to do achievement (I needed it to get ma red proto-drake) so when they said yes, we engaged the boss. at 50% someone failed, so I rage quited and used bubble, left group and got ported out. when I arrived in Dala I looked in chat and it said that I had recieved 4 shards(even tho we didn't have Wintergrasp) and 1 Emblem of triumph. don't know if they downed the boss, even tho I doubt it because healer was out of mana and they sucked... I haven't got the chance to test it (again) tho because I haven't done any dungeons yet.

I hope this helps anyone that ends up in a retarded group.

My guess would be that the boss got downed.

Also, the title is pretty misleading, you haven't tried replicating this even once, so perhaps you should make this a [Theory] thread, if that's even allowed ?

This is a repost. I know because I posted in a thread about the same thing.

So here's the breakdown:
1. Queue specifically for FoS (or whatever)
2. Clear trash to the boss and hope for a hilt.
3. Engage and fight the boss.
4. Get the boss down to a point where you feel comfortable that the group will finish it off without you, but not so low that they'll kill it before you get a chance to re-queue. Take load times into account here. 25% usually works out fine.
5. Drop group
6. After you load back into wherever you were, immediately re-queue for FoS (or whatever). You will not have the ditcher's debuff. You re-queue because sometimes you'll get saved if you don't, it's buggy.
7. Within about 30 secs you'll either get a system message that says your saved and got a badge/keeper shards OR you'll suddenly have mail that contains the badge/keepers shards.
8. You are not actually saved, and are in the queue to go again.
9. Repeat
