FYI This is not an exploit or a bug.

It's just that the small spiders have got him down to the point where he was going to die, and your group timed it well enough to tag it and get the loot.

In my friend's Heroic run, the spiders actually killed the Boss before he made it up and it died, and because noone tagged it noone got loots or badges.
