First things first, give details, do you have the daily quest, are you deleting the croc after each cast. and ...

just got crocolisks in the city on our server, worked like a charm, 4th cast and Old Crafty appeared, awsome! + rep if I can!

Worked nicely got Old crafty in my 5th cast as Alliance, looted it aswell ^^

sounds great. Going to have to try it once i get the croc as daily. Have about 1.5k fished in orgimmar and no crafy so this would put that nightmare achievement to end.

You can also just not loot the Baby Croc, instead of deleting it every time.

i just sat in org with a fishbot running while watching CSI till i got it.

also, im assuming the same trick would work if you are in a raid group, since you tech catch the croc, but can't see it cuz its a quest item.

It worked for my alliance on the 5th or so cast. Luckily, I'd already gotten Old Ironjaw out of sheer luck so I have both! Thanks!

All we need now is an easier way for horde to get Old Ironjaw like this..

I want to thank the people who found this out and described and tested it here so throughly, in the name of a big part of my guild, they were all happy to get their Crafty without much of a hassle.

I do agree, there should be a similar possibility for the horde, especially because hordies are much more likely to be ganket in IF because of the lack of good hiding places.
